"The problem for this side was always continuity. We had the likes of Maxwell and Finch when they were not household names. The likes of TA Sekhar and Ashish Kapoor were really good talent hunters. But Sekhar moved to Mumbai for a couple of seasons and the whole composition of the side was changed. If the team had managed to hold on these talents, they would have had plenty of star power in their lineup," Shipperd told TOI from Melbourne on Monday. "I spoke to (Dinesh) Karthik this morning. He told me last year the team was building a good young squad but chose to go for a revamp again this season," the coach added. I would call this a season of missed opportunities. We have managed to win five games this season but we lost the first few games by margins of one and four runs. If those results had gone our way, we would have been well in contention for a playoff berth," Daredevils CEO Hemant Dua told TOI. Asked if part of the blame lies with Yuvraj who failed to pull his weight, Dua said, "I would not like to take names of a few individuals." "We have made good progress this season... We could have played slightly smarter cricket," coach Gary Kirsten admitted.
