A labour ministry survey found 2.75 lakh job created between July and December 2014, a 118% year-on-year increase—in the same period in 2013, just over 1.2 lakh jobs had been created. Given the government’s Make-in-India initiative focuses on creating jobs in 25 sectors, the rise in employment numbers are an indication of a good beginning. The government, however, will have to undertake many steps, including skill-development of 12 million youth entering the workforce each year, if the momentum is to sustain. As per the finance ministry’s annual report for 2014-2015, the growth rate of the labour force will outstrip that of the country’s population till 2021.The key challenge, therefore, would be improving the employability of the youth, and for this, the need is of skilling (including upgrading existing skill-sets) of 500 million individuals by 2022. While the National Skill Development Corporation—that has been tasked with skilling 150 million youth in partnership with the private sector—so far it has skilled a little over 5.1 million and has managed to get just over 1.5 million placed. seedhi Posted June 6, 2015 Author Posted June 6, 2015 Hiring activity gains 2% in 1 year of Narendra Modi government: TimesJobs data NEW DELHI: One year of Narendra Modi's government has witnessed a 2 per cent rise in hiring activity and the 'Digital India' drive seems to have generated more employment as compared to the 'Make in India' campaign. According to RecruiteX, the recruitment index of TimesJobs, talent demand grew to 2 per cent between May 2014 and May 2015. Further, government's Digital India push in IT/telecom, IT product and services, e-commerce and startups generated more talent demand than 'Make in India' drive, it said. The above-mentioned sectors reported an average 3 per cent increase in talent demand between May 2014 and May 2015. Other key sectors including manufacturing recorded growth below the industry average of 2 per cent. "With the government's increased focus on digitising India and the creation of Smart Cities, demand for technology professionals witnessed growth not just in core technology but also in manufacturing and allied sectors," TimesJobs COO Vivek Madhukar said. This trend is likely to accelerate as companies adopt new technologies at a faster pace, he said. Moreover, automobile, core manufacturing and engineering sectors showed an average 7 per cent increase in IT talent demand in y-o-y analysis (May 2014 to May 2015). BFSI, BPO/ITES, consumer durables and FMCG sectors recorded an 8 per cent rise in talent demand for IT professionals during the same period. A comparison of TimesJobs data between May 2014- 2015 and May 2013-2014 showed that talent demand in manufacturing saw an average 1 per cent growth after the NDA came to power. No actions to bring back black money, lokpal bill buried.very poor performance from bjp government in first year, crude oil prices are all time low, still no improvement in manufacturing

Major reforms have happened from 49% FDI in insurance to auctions on coal to mining bills. Now obviously GST and Land bill have been blocked. But you cant blame Modi for not trying. He cant do much if he does not have the numbers in the Rajya Sabha. Keep in mind while oil prices have helped India, the global economy too is weak based on the growth rates of the USA and the EU. A destination where majority of Indian exports do go. India is the second fastest growing major economy in the world atm.
