Raghav_12 Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Decriminalization of politics remains only hollow talk that political parties keep on producing time to time. But in fact we have not moved forward at all and continues to as bad as we always was. Though some of the parties like SP remains leader in this aspect but record of any other party is not stellar either. Mainstream national parties like BJP and Congress remains almost as big culprit. There doesn't seem to be an inorganic solution to this issue in a country as complex as India. You can't afford to have blanket ban on such politicians who have criminal cases pending against them. This would become a tool in hands of incumbents to get their rivals banned from politics and there is no other yardstick available to assess criminality index of a politician. (Conviction from final appellate court is one, but with slow judiciary that hardly has an impact). People have their own defenses and ways to assess criminality. Some may think Amit Shah as hardened criminal after being chargesheeted in heinous crimes like Murder and Abductions which other feel that such charges are not justified against him. Ultimate solution would remain with people of the country. Until they reject candidates with criminal background system can do little. Politicians will always try to save each other.
