Mr. Wicket
Right now batting alongside the tail. In the last ten overs of this partnership w/ Jerome Taylor, he's faced 22 balls and scored 6 runs. Taylor has faced the other 38 and made 13. Chanderpaul's made no effort to protect Taylor. In the interest of fairness and equality, can we see a few threads bashing him and cribbing about his selfishness as he continues to obviously bat for his average? Bonus points to anyone wishing an injury upon him for this selfish act. Link to comment
living
oh finey where are you .... ??? :D to give finey some ammunition - the WI number 11 was Chris Gayle :giggle: Link to comment
Mr. Wicket
But Fidel Edwards also took a fair bit of strike in the previous partnership and made the majority of the runs with his 21. And Shiv finished not out. Should WI drop him for being so selfish and obviously playing only for his average? Link to comment

Mr. Wicket
Exactly. Edwards is a certified tailender, yet he faced more bowling than Shiv in that partnership and made more runs while Shiv scored more slowly and remained not out. Why aren't the likes of fineleg, riya and the rest of the drama queens here? Link to comment

The Outsider
These people don't realize that the entire cricketing world has basically taken up Waugh's strategy of not shielding the tail unless batting for a draw. Remember the thread of mine made when Misbah screwed up while trying to shield the tail? But some people have their own fanciful notions of how cricket should be played disregarding how the rest of the world has moved on. Link to comment
bunny
If Gayle hadn't come down at #11 it was a pretty ridiculous effort from Chanderpaul. They were just 120 runs ahead and Chanderpaul should have decided to make a match out of it. He wasn't even going for shots of overpitch stuff. Take singles, yeah sure, but hit the easy deliveries. (For him the field was also in some times). But, in the end Gayle walked out as #11 and did some damage. I don't think so Chanderpaul would have done anything different had Gayle not been fit to walk to bat. He did the same in the 1st innings as well and see how that worked out. Link to comment
