I think India has the toughest first round considering Bangladesh isn't too bad compared to the likes of Ireland, Scotland, Zimbabwe and the likes. India's first round games are scheduled at : March 16th - v Bangladesh @ Trinidad and Tobago March 19th - v Bermuda @ Trinidad and Tobago March 23rd - v SL @ Trinidad and Tobago All the 6 games are going to be played at Queen's Park Oval Port of Spain, Trinidad. Re: India's fixtures in the World cup India will stroll through this group quite comfortably. It's what happens afterwards that might send a chill or two down our spine. So what is the overall format like ? Who do the winners of each group play ? If India topped their group who would they go onto meet in the next round ?

If we are to win the cup, fearing any team is not an option.

Re: India's fixtures in the World cup

India will play everybody but one of Group C in the Super 8 stage irrespective of their being B1 or B2
actually we wont play SL in super 8, points from first round will be carried to super 8. So going to super 8 with a win against SL would be a good start. Our first game in super 8 will be against SA or Aus.

Re: India's fixtures in the World cup Right kids, my bookie just gave me this card - it's all been set up like so. Place your bets. Group A - 1st AUS, 2nd RSA Group B - 1st IND, 2nd SL Group C - 1st ENG, 2nd NZ Group D - 1st PAK, 2nd WI D1 PAK D2 WI A1 AUS A2 RSA B1 IND B2 SL C1 ENG C2 NZ World Cup 2007 - Super Eight Series Super Eight Series Date Team Team Venue Result 27 Mar 2007 WI beat AUS @ The Viv Richards Stadium 28 Mar 2007 RSA beat IND @ Providence Stadium 29 Mar 2007 WI beat ENG @ The Viv Richards Stadium 30 Mar 2007 PAK beat NZ @ Providence Stadium 31 Mar 2007 AUS beat SL @ The Viv Richards Stadium 01 Apr 2007 IND beat WI @ Providence Stadium 02 Apr 2007 SL beat ENG @ The Viv Richards Stadium 03 Apr 2007 RSA beat PAK @ Providence Stadium 04 Apr 2007 IND beat NZ @ The Viv Richards Stadium 07 Apr 2007 RSA beat SL @ Providence Stadium 08 Apr 2007 AUS beat NZ @ The Viv Richards Stadium 09 Apr 2007 PAK beat ENG @ Providence Stadium 10 Apr 2007 RSA beat WI @ Queen's Park Stadium 11 Apr 2007 SL beat NZ @ Kensington Oval 12 Apr 2007 IND beat ENG @ Queen's Park Stadium 13 Apr 2007 AUS beat PAK @ Kensington Oval 14 Apr 2007 ENG beat RSA @ Queen's Park Stadium 15 Apr 2007 PAK beat SL @ Kensington Oval 16 Apr 2007 AUS beat IND @ Queen's Park Stadium 17 Apr 2007 NZ beat RSA @ Kensington Oval 18 Apr 2007 IND beat PAK @ Queen's Park Stadium 19 Apr 2007 WI beat SL @ Kensington Oval 20 Apr 2007 ENG beat AUS @ Queen's Park Stadium 21 Apr 2007 WI beat NZ Kensington Oval Teams which qualify for the semis; 1) RSA - played 6, won 4 (IND, PAK, SL, WI) lost 2 (ENG, NZ) - highest NRR after destroying PAK and WI separates them from AUS. 2) AUS - played 6, won 4 (SL, NZ, PAK, IND) lost 2 (WI, ENG) - narrow wins (low NRR) vs SL, NZ, PAK 3) IND - played 6, won 4 (WI, NZ, ENG, PAK) lost 2 (RSA, AUS) - saved by close wins vs WI and NZ after being battered by AUS. Knock out PAK in their final super 8 to reach the semis...phew 4) WI - played 6, won 4 (AUS, SL, NZ, ENG) lost 2 (IND, RSA) - high NRR before win vs NZ, scrape through after 2 wicket win vs NZ in their final super 8 game to reach semis ---- PAK - played 3, won 3 (NZ, ENG, SL) lost 3 (AUS, RSA, IND) - 3 big wins. High NRR throughout the tournament; but knocked out by IND in a must-win encounter in their final match of the super 8. Another 20 years of bitching and moaning over umpiring decisions and matchfixing allegations. Mushy launches an enquiry, Mullahs declare a fatwa on India and Woolmer gets stoned at airport, resigns following day. ENG - played 6, won 2 (AUS, RSA) lost 4 (WI, SL, PAK, IND) - fail to start well losing first 4 matches. End tourney on a high note with wins over top teams RSA and AUS, finish as the "moral winners" of the world cup. SL - played 6, won 2 (ENG, NZ) lost 4 (AUS, RSA, WI, PAK) - two wins over ENG and NZ do little to help their cause as they come up short against the rest. Run AUS close but lose after Murali gets hit by beer-can thrown by Darrell Hair (sitting in the crowd). Moody resigns. NZ - played 6, won 1 (RSA) lost 5 (PAK, IND, AUS, SL, WI) - run AUS and IND close, but playing for pride after defeat to SL. Come close to knocking out the hosts in final game of super 8, but lose by 2 wickets in the best match of the World Cup. Fleming sacked, Vettori takes over. Who gives a sh*t about cricket - we'll win the Rugby and Sheepshagging world cups. --- Semis; AUS vs IND - Heartbreak for IND again, as they lose by 398493534 runs to AUS. Chappell sticks middle finger up his @rse. WI vs RSA - RSA knock out the hosts. WI fans riot in the stands, Lara starts crying again (after choking with the bat). Final; RSA beat AUS in historic match after chasing down another record 434343 runs in the final. Aussies spit on the pitch, claim the pitch was rigged and Warney comes out of retirement to spearhead the 2011 campaign

Re: India's fixtures in the World cup

Will the points carried over to Super 8?
NO. Everybody starts with a clean slate in Super 8
Dont think so. Teams will carry points from round 1 to super 8. infact i think if India and SL qualify for super 8 doesnt matter if Ind beat SL , India will still be B2.

i doubt it.. it will be like this.. if lanka goes into super 8 then points against lanka will carry into super8.. and will play rest of those 6 teams in super 8.. and top 4 will go to semis.
