i do not have all the stats ready with me at the moment... but even statistically against good teams and other wise as well.... if we compare Dravid with Inzi.... Dravid comes out as a clear winner among the two. Dravid does not have the Brute destruction and charm of Sachin... Dravid does not have the stubbornness of Ganguly......did not set the international stage on fire like Ganguly did on debut... He came.. quietly.. in the team of stalwarts...did his "tapasya" on and off the field... Made a sound base with his hard work and honest character.. and then showed the world..what he is made up of... A place where cricket is religion for the people ..and Sachin is their god...Many consider The Dravid a better batsman than Tendulkar ... Ganguly does not even come in the picture..... His initial years were the period..like when Gold is put on fire.... and he came out of it..with more purity.more shine...and has not stopped shining since then... Take a Bow... The Captain...The Leader...The Rahul Dravid. i wanted to write something on Dravid for a long time...though i am still not satisfied with what i have come up with...will try to improve it firther... Now back to the topic...: There was a time when people at PP would rubish a comparison between Inzi and Dravid....but with his consistent top class performance..in both tests and ODIs...Dravid has left Inzi far behind in the race. Hw many agree and how many disagree?? :hic:

Rahul Dravid is among the top batters today and Inzi was in that type of form for about a year or two but then has dwindled away since 2006. Rahul Dravid has maintained his form in test cricket since his debut and has failed only in handful of series'. As for ODI he has been top notch since 2001 and has never looked back. Inzi was among the top for few years but has not been as consistent as Rahul Dravid.

Re: The Rahul Dravid VS Inzi-Ul-Haq I think one thing people forget about Inzy is that he averages 40 in ODIs and 50 in tests despite being the worst runner in history of cricket's specialist bats. Imagine if VVS was averaging 40 in ODIs and 50 in tests despite his poor running - and he is a far better runner between wickets than Inzy ! One thing i admire about Inzy is that he does have a penchant for comming good when the situation is dire probably more often than any other batsman ( dire as in 'if i do well, the team wins', not ' even if i score 250, we still follow on' kinda dire no pressure situation Lara bats under)

Re: The Rahul Dravid VS Inzi-Ul-Haq i guess...the situations of Pakistan in recent SA tour was not alarming..so inzi decided to have a quite tour....curbing his instincts to play and perform when his team needed.... all this BS of pressure situation and performance..is better kept to pakistan and pakistanis.... Dravid does not let that situation come at all...most of the time.... there will always be a question mark of Inzi's batting position....he never likes to come at 3 or 4... does he not know ..how to build the innigs..? and the SR of Dravid and inzi are comparable..so even this argument hoes for a toss that inzi scores faster... Dravid's ODI record for the last 7-8 years speaks volumes about his consistency... inzi does show weakness on fast and bouncy pitches...like in SA or AUS.. but Dravid excels in these conditions.... at the moment ..i will choose dravid over inzi in both the forms of the game...

Both Inzamam and Dravid were technically adept, had plenty of time to plenty their strokes but the p aki could attack at will and was thereby a more effective batsman during the latter stages of the game. Dravid was nothing more than an accumulator. Not the case anymore. In recent times, Dravid has developed that extra gear in his game which was previously missing; now more than capable of slogging at the death and hitting over the top when the occasion demands it. This new facet in his game has made him a complete batsman. Remember that knock of 85 vs SL at Nagpur back in '05 (the opening match of the 6-1 series) - that was some of the cleanest slog over hitting i've seen in recent years by an Indian batsman. Not to mention his magnificent charge at Ahmedabad (in that same series) to reach his hundred; he got there after clubbing Murali for a straight six. The audacity which was previously missing from his game is now one of his strengths. Now Dravid is just as likely to finish an innings with an SR exceeding 100 than any other batsman in India's batting lineup. Bear in mind that this guy also has a 22 ball 50 to his name...

Re: The Rahul Dravid VS Inzi-Ul-Haq To be honest, i agree that Dravid vs Inzy in ODIs is very much a tossup and i can see people picking Dravid over Inzy. But i was comparing them more on a career basis and Dravid loses out there because for quite some time he was a slowpoke plodder in ODIs with strike rate in the mid 60s.
