rtmohanlal
Virat - around 50,55,60 avg:s in the 3 formats each. Not only that, almost uniform records in each country whether it be in tests or one dayers. To add to that he is the current best batsman and is captaining the side too. Now coming to others Rohit - non existant in tests. Yet ,no uniform records in one dayers Dhawan same as above Pujara - only existant in tests.Even there, his record is far from adequate in SENA & WI Rahane - only existant in tests. Even here, he is very weak in India These 4 above form the core of the 2 formats each along with Kohli. In the bygone era the gap between premier batsman Sachin and others were far shorter when compared to that of this era. All of Dravid,Ganguly,Sehwag,Gambhir played both formats and were ' ATGs to at least good' in both the formats.Laxman & Yuvraj were one format specialists, but they were such successful in every aspect in the only format they played in. And Sachin didn't captain much either. Always wonder as to why is there such huge gap between Kohli and each of the others . Is it the 'elephant in the room' , arrogant, self centered attitude of captain Kohli so that he does not want others to be successful all format players like him? . Is it the incompetence of Shastri as coach to take firm decisions w.r.t trying fresh faces?. Is it the incompetency of selectors in providing fresh extremely high class talents ? Or is it that Kohli is naturally so gifted so much so that no body can be any way nearer to him as an all round batsman.? Link to comment

Now coming to others Rohit is ODI is near Kohli level ( but less consistent across all conditions) Pujara in tests is near kohli level in India. Kohli is alone outside of India in tests by some margin, since Rahane and Vijay have regressed ( else the margin would have been acceptable) Link to comment
