World's fastest pitch awaits Australia

Why does the thread topic and the actual post have to be so cynical ? On the comment,

While self professed experts at playing spin, the Indians ability to handle what is Australia's fastest wicket will come under close scrutiny as Brad Hogg is probably rested, giving Shaun Tait a green light to serve up the 150 km/h screamers he has been able to bowl on the ground earlier in the year.
Have you ever made a comment along the lines of " While the self-professed expers of playing pace and bounce, the Aus ability to play spin in Ind will come under close scrutiny" ? In the last last 6 tests Ind have played in Aus, they have one 350+, one 400+, two 500+, one 700+ scores. What are you even talking about when you say " Can they play pace ? " Wake up and smell the coffee dude !
Will we see a bravaura performance from the Sub-Continent's finest, with Lee and Tait hurling lightning fast balls down at them?
Correction. In the last 6 years, Ind have drawn and won a test series in Eng, won in West Indies, drew against Aus and had a VERY close series against S.Africa. We are amongst the world's best now, not merely the "sub-contientent's finest"
I think they face tough times to salvage some self respect from the score of 2-0. Maybe they will draw inspiration from the 2nd test in what they proclaim should have been a win.
Ind will already have some self-respect, coz they know that had a few things gone their way, they would have stopped Aus winning record dead on its tracks, for the second time. The Aus team knows it too, the only person who hasnt probably realized that till now is you.
Your thoughts? ( pls keep positive and no comments on the obvious, let's keep this limited to just their cricketing abilities thanks )....
And you, stop making some age-old references to non-existent protypes such as " sub-continent's finest" or "self proclaimed experts at spin" etc. Such hidden mocking wont go unnoticed. Thank God the series reads 2-0 and not 1-1.

OK, so what reply do you expect here YES or NO What difference does it make, nobody knows the answer; we would have to wait and watch. A reply for an aussie fan: They will be offered chin music on every ball, they will fall down, duck, miss hit and get caught in the gully and bundle out for 100 runs A reply for Indian fans The faster they come, the faster they will reach the boundary, lee will be hit for plenty and tait will write his own fate.
....and Sehwag will be carrying eraser, to make sure whatever Tait writes gets erased :yay::isalute: main shayaar toh nahinnn :cantstop:

^^ On both the occasion, India managed to stretch the game till 5th day (which according to chris rogers is not possible, the guy who is 30+ and yet to make a test appearance). India have played better cricket than any touring nation in Australia. After MCG's debacle, our boys played compatible cricket to give Ausi's run for their money. Perth will be testing match, but if we play like we did in SCG, we can sure hope for some good cricket ahead.

India will not find it too easy unless they make some fundamental shift in attitude and technique. Any Perth wicket is bound to be really quick and this one promises to be a screamer of a track. Sehwag MUST play, absolutely no point in having Jaffer up there, he is a sitting duck and a walking wicket. At worst Sehwag may fail, at best he will come good in his natural style which may force the issue for us . India will depend on Sachin and Sehwag, I really have no great expectations from the rest, but this will bring out which of the top batters will prove themselves or be exposed now.

don't be precious or sooooo sensitive.....you are the best team on the sub continent in tests, after sri lanka...i am talking sub continent because you are from there....not because you're next to england, or sth africa geographically....sounds like you're still hung up on 150 years of english rule there... no, i havent made a comment on aussies playing spin, because quite frankly i dont have to...no one has been as good as australia in the spin bowling department and muli hasn't done well against us also. ( i dont think he chucks either ) re: comment on india vs pace.....this is a very uneducated and ignorant post from you, WACA is a pace ground.....hence my comment......you play to the pitch not to some imaginary ground in your mind.....what are you talking about? reductio ad absurdum would be my guess, but a lot of you are masters at this piss weak attempt to turn things around to your way Rajeev, would i would have hoped as an answer was who do you see as your stronger players? who might this pitch suit? who will bowl well on your turn....? what is the Indian Team's plan here?

India vs Australia - Perth Test - News Thread After all the talk of the red hot surface and the 4 prong fast bowling attack of the Aussies - the question is assuming that Kumble wins the toss should India bat first or field first. In general, the view is a team should bat first put up a big score and sieze the intiative but on this pitch we miht want to take a different approach. We dont have pace bowlers who can exploit the condition as well as Aussies can + the pitch will slow down over time (see the curators comments). IMO we should bowl first (if we win the toss) and make the most of the hard surface and any grass on the pitch which should help Pathan (if he plays) and RPS

Sehwag may open at WACA Sehwag may open at WACA TNN / Sumit Mukherjee PERTH, January 14: Had Gary Kirsten been in charge of the Indian team in Australia, Rahul Dravid would not have had to open the innings in Melbourne and Sydney. The former South African opener, who linked up with the team here on Sunday, will be advising the team management as a consultant and though he may not have the last word in selection matters, his voice will be heard with respect by skipper Anil Kumble. Asked whether India should go in with makeshift openers, Kirsten said: "Obviously, we have options in that. At a very informal level, after today we will have little more discussion about what to look at, but my personal opinion is that specialists in specialist positions is the way to go." Kirsten hinted that Sehwag, who got a hundred in the last game, may get the nod to open the innings, especially as he has the respect of the Australians in the way he plays. "I guess, Sehwag will become a factor and Rahul is certainly suited and more comfortable in the middle-order," Kirsten said. The South African was not sure whether India would go in with two spinners on a fast and hard WACA wicket: "Two spinners are unlikely at WACA but Harbhajan is one of the strengths of this Indian team. We have identified that members of the lower order should contribute more with the bat and Harbhajan did it well in Sydney. So it will be a tough decision to keep him out." Kirsten will also be working very closely with bowling coach Venkatesh Prasad in advising the bowlers about the right length to bowl on the Perth wicket. He will also be talking to the pacers about bowling into the wind. Australia, on the other hand, is still sweating over the fitness of opener Matthew Hayden, who was put through his paces by physio Alex Contouris on Monday. Aussies have called up Chris Rogers as a cover for Hayden, but want to give the latter more time to get fit for a match that could go into history books as Ricky Ponting men look to notch up their 17th successive Test win. Adam Gilchrist reckons Hayden has more than 50 per cent chance of playing. "It must be pretty frustrating for him. He is 100 per cent fit to do most of the things he may be required to do in a match, but there are only a few things he still can’t do properly yet, so we will give him maximum time to recover," Gichrist said. One thing is almost certain, though. Australia will go into the Perth Test without a frontline spinner with Brad Hogg likely to make way for speedster Shaun Tait, who was seen bowling at full tilt in the nets. http://cricket.indiatimes.com/Sehwag_may_open_at_WACA/articleshow/2700127.cms

All pace attack does not worry Sehwag PTI PERTH, January 14: The prospect of facing a four-pronged Australian pace attack on the fast and bouncy WACA pitch has not fazed Virender Sehwag, who is in line to make a comeback to the Indian team after a hundred in the practice match in Canberra. The Australian selectors are likely to include tearaway fast bowler Shaun Tait in place of left-arm chinaman bowler Brad Hogg but Sehwag is not concerned. "I have got my rhythm back. I have got everything back," the Delhi batsman said. "I think the Perth wicket is good for me and good for batsmen because the ball comes on (with) pace and bounce so you can play your shots. "It's a true wicket for both batsmen and bowlers and I love fresh challenges, so if I play against four fast bowlers, then it's great for me. I will try to play with a positive mindset and play my shots," Sehwag was quoted as saying by 'Herald Sun'. The 52-Test veteran has been out of the Test team for a year but his innings of 113 from 78 balls in India's drawn three-day game against an Australian Capital Territory Invitational XI, coupled with Wasim Jaffer's failures, has put Sehwag in contention for a recall in Wednesday's third Test. "In the second innings (in Canberra) the wicket was slow and not coming on to the bat. So I decided I would play positive and stay with a positive mindset. It helped." Asked if he would consider a middle-order slot in the Indian team, he said: "Whatever. I want to play Test cricket. It doesn't matter (if it's as an) opener, one down or middle order." http://cricket.indiatimes.com/Pace_attack_does_not_worry_Sehwag/articleshow/2699439.cms

Let Sehwag play as a opener ' date=' but it will be a big mistake to send the out of form Dravid at No 3 . He will kill all momentum .. Let Laxman come at No 3 and Dravid bat at No 6 for the remainder of the series.[/quote'] may be dravid find his rythm back at his normal place so we cant let him bat at 6...he is good at 3...
