I've lived in Ontario for years before i shifted to BC - in small-town Ontario (like Barrie, Kingston, Windsor, etc) i didn't get confused with a muslim or a latino- though i did get 'Portuguese' a lot for some reason. Same with small town BC on the Island or Okanagan i've found. When i went to mexico i had a few instances when people walked up to me and spoke in spanish thinking i am a local, it happens but in areas where there are a few muslim settlers its easy to get mistaken for a muslim as well, personally it has not happened but i have heard from friends and colleagues. Even you the portuguese looking fella ( wow you firang how nice), sorry could not resist.
