Thank you note from Heather Knight to all supporters

Dear V   It’s pretty tough to put the last few days into words, but here goes! When I woke up on Monday morning (pretty early, as I had to go do a photoshoot with the trophy at the Shard!), I almost had to pinch myself. I couldn't believe it was real and even now I'm not sure it's all sunk in.   The whole day was just an unreal experience. With India at 190-3 I’ll admit it didn't look great. But we genuinely never stopped believing we could win. We all stayed really positive and hung in there, knowing that with the run-rate still up at six we were only ever a wicket or two away from opening the door. Brunty was quick to remind us on taking a wicket that the new batter was going to be terrified - fortunately we were able to make it count in those moments.   We've found ways to win all tournament - which has been great for keeping it exciting but maybe not great for my heart! - and it's often been a case of someone sticking their hand up and getting us over the line. On Sunday it was Anya and I'm so delighted for her. We serenaded her during the celebrations on Sunday night with 'Hoof, Hoof, Hoof' - her nickname.   I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us over the past few weeks and well beyond that too. It really does feel like this tournament has been a game-changer for women’s cricket. One of my best friends - who came to watch the game - had been staying in my flat before the final and had decided to raid my wardrobe and borrow my kit. She came in full England kit - with my name and number on the back - and even ended up doing a few selfies! When you've got fans taking photos of impersonators you feel like you're making progress!   Also, a shout-out to the little All Stars we coached at Lord's the day after the final. So great to see their excitement, it was a reminder of what this win might mean for the game. There's never been a better time for women and girls to get involved in cricket and if some of those who watched on Sunday feel inspired to play then our victory is all the sweeter!       Next for us is a short break and then it's all about the Kia Super League. Hopefully some of the fans who've seen us this summer will come along and keep that buzz going. One eye will begin to turn to this winter's Ashes soon but for now we’re going to enjoy the fact that we’re World Champions!!   It’s hard to pick highlights from the tournament, as everyone played their part, but here are just a few standout moments from me…               The England and Wales Cricket Board Lord’s Cricket Ground, London NW8 8QZ
