India's match winners !

head coach

These are the 6 players who could be singled out from the current team. Going forward the team should revolve around these individuals. They are going to determine how many matches India win:

  1. M S Dhoni
  2. Yuvraj Singh
  3. Suresh Raina
  4. R P Singh
  5. Sreesanth
  6. Irfan Pathan

The reason these stand out is because they make a change in the mindset of playing eleven. Rest of the spots are up for grabs.

Assuming that you are talking about ODIs -- we may include Rohit Sharma, Piyush Chawla, Robin Uthappa as future prospects with proper nurturing. However, when it comes to Test matches that too winning matches at foreign pictches -- I can't see a bright Indian future once Boss, Dada, RD, Laxman, Jumbo retire :((

Not really, both forms. these are players who will take India forward. Days of Tendulkar and Dravid are over. India needs to look at other players who can take the team into next level. These 6 players have a proven record of being match winners. Each of these players except Raina have won India at least one test match and several ODI matches with their brilliant performance. Raina is included in this list because of his technique and enduring field presence. You're right about Rohit, Piyush and Robin. They are unfinished when compared to these 6 but may get there.

thats pretty much a chappell list who we know of course was a failed coach raina is shitt, uthappa is far more talented and dynamic, and sehwag and ishant r right up there- actually if u look at it it's still the guys ganguly broguht in like bhajji, yuvi, sehwag and irfan who hold the greatest promise

With these we know why you are growling...and where you're coming from.

I consider only Yuvraj and Sachin as a match winners as far as ODIs are concerned.... There are no match winners in bowling ...They are on and off and way too inconsitent in ODIs. DHONI hasnt produced a big innings of late....Its long time coming
TS, It's mistake to project Yuvraj the same way Tendulkar, Dravid and Gangully were projected. We need to have a group of players with caliber to take it forward. I believe these 6 are the right candidates. Nobody can forget how Dhoni saved a test for India at England. It is normal for a cricketer to have up and downs but the quality never fades.

OK so you are talking about TEST matches as well....I clealry highlighted in previous post about our future in test matches at FOREIGN PITCHES. Please let me know How many Test matches at foreign pitches Yuvraj+Dhoni+Raina combined have won or contributed or even played??? We will definately loose our BATTING prowess on foreign pitches once all four -- BOSS, RD, Dada, Laxman retires!! There is NO batsman who can come close to the above four when it comes to playing away from India. The so called your above great list may only hold good for ODIs or highly mediocre T20s...they may even occasionally perform in Test matches on Indian pitches tailormade to suit their batting......But when it comes to batting in Test series in Aus, Eng, NZ on a tour, there is not much hope. Sorry!! The current four senior players are UNIQUE and we can't get a suitable replacement as simple as that! We have some good hopes with future bowlers though, ironically, so far we were considered as a team which is good in batting area, which may change in Test matches in near future and we may become a good bowling side in Test instead of batting!

Sehwag is missing in that List' date=' then[/quote'] Yes, he may make it. But the million dollar question is will he play according to the game's demand and provide a win when it matters? He might be an asset to give an explosive opening but if he is hanging in there without a Dhoni or Yuvaraj to finish the game can he do it himself?

Yes this is the exact reason people have showcased them as Gods. When did India try these young folks without these 3-4 comfort zones that you mention? Our discussion is about future. The players you list cannot be counted for India's future plans. It is high time to come out of this superficial worship of players. It may help them to set records and gain more money but directly hinders team's success.

Winning with people who are in prime form always hinders the team's success.
Nobody is questioning anyone's form here. Only asking to persist with these 6 players who'll act as the platform for others to perform without standing on the heels of super duper demigods who are fading away.
