no, not Indian player Bhajji :giggle: 470_monkey,0.jpg An intruder who ran onto Adelaide Oval wearing a monkey mask during the penultimate day of the fourth Test between Australia and India faces a $2500 fine for his trouble. However the racial undertones of the mask are unlikely to result in any separate sanctions for what a Cricket Australia official described as a "tasteless prank". The man was one of a trio to run onto the field of play when Andrew Symonds was batting during the final session, fuelled by alcohol and probably boredom as the match meandered towards a likely draw. Indian players looked both bemused and amused by the prank, and swing bowler Irfan Pathan said it was not something they saw much of in India. "I don't know if it was fun or maybe a bet," he said. "Not many times this kind of thing has happened in India, so we enjoyed it." All three men were taken into police custody but released tonight on bail, pending a court appearance in Adelaide in March. Two of the men had travelled from Victoria while the third was from Adelaide. CA general manager public affairs Peter Young said the use of a monkey mask had not added a racial element to the man's charges. "It's now a police matter, ground invasions are a serious issue, it's a distraction for the players and in some cases, as we saw with Terry Alderman a number of years ago (1982 in Perth) it can result in an injury that keeps an international player off the field for some time," Young said. "We don't think it's funny and people should not think it will be tolerated. "(The mask) is best described as a tasteless prank, and that's how we're taking it." Symonds has been at the centre of a racial abuse debate after being subjected to monkey chants during Australia's October tour of India. During the Sydney Test of the current series Symonds and the Australians accused spinner Harbhajan Singh of calling the allrounder a "big monkey", and he was subsequently suspended for three matches by ICC referee Mike Proctor. Strong Indian protests, including a threat to cancel the remainder of the tour, resulted in an appeal by the Indian Board. A hearing is scheduled for the conclusion of the current Test in Adelaide, in which Harbhajan has taken part. One of Harbhajan's chief accusers has been Australian captain Ricky Ponting, but the pair allowed their frosty relationship to thaw somewhat today when the Indian congratulated Ponting on his 34th Test century." they haven't revealed who the guy was but i would say some drunken aussie... http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/articles/2008/01/27/1201368943353.html?s_rid=smh:top5

Absolutely ! Even if we assume Bhajji called Symmo a monkey, then that is considered "Racial and has no place on a cricket field" but if an Australian mocks at Symmonds with a monkey mask, then the Aussie police will come out and say it "is best described as a tasteless prank, and that's how we're taking it" Now that is what you call consistent standards ! :two_thumbs_up:
