Indian Basketball Team

It was the year 2015 when after a lot of failures we were seeing the light of hope again in the form of " The big 3". We reached the quarters after so long and moved up 8 places from 61 to 52 and it was looking like Indian basketball "the sleeping giant" is  ready to wake up and dominant the Asia and make presence in the world.

Fast forward to 2018: It's been a while since the Big 3 played together and BFI banned the star player Amjyot Singh and we moved down nine places to 62. There is just glimpses of potential and that's it. We are the chokers of 4th quarter and that seeped into junior team too and it's all dark again.

I want the fellow basketball enthusiast to join this thread and discuss about basketball in India.

5 August 2018: FIBA u18 Asia India vs Chinese Taipei. We were dominating the boards dunking all over them and it looked like the victory is a possibility. Till 3rd quarter we were leading by 12 points and then came 4th quarter and we choked again and lost it by 80-83 and one more heart break.

Standout player: Princepal Singh 6'10 centre.

The u18 team lost to South Korea by 95-132. The south Korea is a 3point shooting team and a contender so it was a decent performance.

Standout player: Rajeev Kumar a 6'3 shooting guard aged 16 shot 9 3pointers and was top scorer with 40 points.

Haven't seen the national team play before, but how is the overall 3 point shooting? That shot is the basis of basketball nowadays. We need all our players, from the PG to the C to know how to shoot. That will win us games I think.

Honestly our outside shooting is not so good and our backcourt is responsible for that. Comparing them with other Asian backcourt they are bad.Its improving now but when there is full court press then they are a shame for the team and they lead in turnover at that moment.

And suprisingly our Frontcourt is better 3p shooters. So our team is bad outside shooter in the present but future is bright.

The INDIAN centre Satnam Singh has signed with St. John's Edge in Canada NBL.

Now the suprising part: In his tweet Singh thanked Bunty Sajdeh. This guy is everywhere.

He was drafted into the NBA but never made the roster after training camp. NBA is moving away from stiff, tall dudes who can't shoot.
