Are the results getting so predictable?

Going thru the entire tournament a general trend was sooo emphatically evident . Team batting first and setting a target of 250+ invariably  winning the match. The chasing team at the most  coming so close  but invariably losing the match. On the other hand if team batting first  gets bundled out for a very small score,  the team batting 2nd  reaches the target  with in no time with bulk of the overs to spare. There was only one instance where a 250 target was chased successfully in this world cup, 321 set by Windies was chased brilliantly by BAN( a team which was only a minnow till a few years back). Other than that even the  higher ranked teams  couldn't chase a 250+ score. On the other hand there were a few instances where modest targets were successfully defended. This all makes it wonder w.r.t the purpose of even  playing. 'Win the toss and bat first & win the match'.

Then what is the purpose of even playing? Isn't it so better in every way to concede the match to the team winning toss?

 

I think ICC needs to think seriously about this.
