Autonomous Posted April 23, 2020 Posted April 23, 2020 Internet articles with titles "will world ever be the same" may surround you as well as many giving lectures on impact of covid. However will it really have that long-term impact? I don't think so. Infact, many changes seem absurd are narrate OTT reactions such as digital currency etc. I think people will continue on and be immune to the virus whereas others will have a vaccine in an year. I think impacts will be for 1-1.5 years until situation is under control after which global economy may grow and it will be business as usual. At most airline and travel requirements will have health based pre-requisites. Whereas healthcare may witness increasing importance as compared to other expenditures.
kubrickian Posted April 23, 2020 Posted April 23, 2020 Nobody has a clue what will happen in the future. You are just assuming that the cases will go down within a few months, and we will all go back to normal. Some reports suggest there will be a wave of these infections, each one more deadlier than the previous one. What happens when the lockdown ends and people go back to work ? Surely infections will rise. What happens when the vaccine cannot adequately prevent the infections ? How longer can you put a lockdown ? What will be the effects on the economy and effects of people losing their jobs or society plunging into more poverty ? There are lots of unknown factors because this is a never before seen situation.

Spanish Flu infected 33% of global population (500 million) and 50 million were dead.
