BCCI and Generation Next !

I have been watching Laxman , RD , SG and SRT bat since late 90s and we all know that very soon these players will be hanging their boots and if they don’t take the respected way to exit then I'm afraid couple of them will get dropped. The old legs of Kumble , SG and RD are finding it hard to play out the 5 days and perform consistently. I am wondering how will BCCI replace these guys in the next year or so. To add to the worries of the selectors , the bowling attack is not settled either. Its not like ODIs where the selectors gambled and pushed 6-7 new guys around the same time, in test cricket it has to be done over a period of time. If they try 1-2 new guys in every other test then they will know the options they have but BCCI is not taking that risk. For example , Jaffer doesn’t look to be in great form and it was an opportunity for GG (or kaif , R Sharma ) to be tried. If GG had been tried and if he was able to prove that he has a sound technique for the test cricket then it would have given selectors an option for the future. Same thing with the bowlers , why not try Chawla or someone else when AK wasn’t 100% fit for the last test (or Praveen Kumar for out of form RP Singh). Young guys also have more hunger and energy. In the last couple of games we have seen how lethargic the Indian team has looked and how much behind they are when it comes to fielding. Selectors don’t have to push all the young guys into the side at once. They can try one or two players at a time and see how they respond. The present approach is defensive and BCCI will find itself in hot waters if 2 or 3 of the senior players call it quits around the same time. PS: Its not about who can replace whom , its about the process that needs to be applied

This is exactly what i want... a new system where we can draft the new players in before facing a stage where all our stars exit together leaving a big void in the middle of our bating line-up... we have to utilise the next year when we play tests against sri lanka and new zealand and rest our seniors for some new guys but this also should be done by resting one of the fab three in each test of a series... hope some sense prevails and we see PUJARA, KOHLI, ROHIT, and MUKUND making their places in the team permanent as when these greats of Indian cricket hang up their boots

I think they have given chances to people spot 6 has yet to be sealed. Its rotated in the time of the opening post between Pujara Raina and Yuvraj. Now currently its with Kohli with Sharma waiting in the wings.
