The problem is that they dont have data for most of the indian dishes. For instance I can not find the calories for Roti .. I cant even find it through google :nervous: The links that I am getting are for precooked rotis.
Well of course that makes total sense. You will get calorific values for only pre-cooked rotis. The simple reason being a pre-cooked roti comes in a certain size and weight. For example a roti of say 6 inches diameter and about 20 grm in weight can be shown to have X number of calories(it is dependent on weight really). On the other hand rotis cooked at home can be anything from 5 grms fulka to 50 grams tandoori roti. So no way any website can give you the exact calorific value of a household roti. If you want to calculate the calorific value of roti cooked at your home do this. Measure how much atta you use in the dough. Use the caloric value defined at the back of the bag to get you the total amount of calorie in that dough. Say you use 100 grams wheat flour and the calorie value comes to 450(or whatever). Now say 10 rotis are made out of this. Your average calorie in a roti comes to 45 calorie. Similarly do your math for any dish from chicken tandoori to fish fry. xxx
