Bumper Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 Re: Forum Cricket Match Amidst the big battle, between the two teams, there were many interesting small battles as well. Umpire Darrowala Harekrishna (aka Darr Hare) & Munda Pakistani had a bit of a history. Darr Hare always viewed bowlers of Munda's origins with suspicion. Its not entirely Munda' fault ofcourse, he does seem like an honest chap. But he had this habit of carefully looking around, dipping inside his pockets, when he had the ball in his hand. The whole day, Darr Harre was staring at Munda like a cheetah on its prey. When Munda dipped in his pocket that afternoon, Darr Harre pounced on him, catching Munda red-handed. Darr Harre was triumphant. Little did he know, that Munda's pocket merely had a granite stone, a big one that. Darr was thoroughly confused, he had never seen anyone use a stone on a ball. Munda denied that he tampered with the ball, but he refused to explain the stone in his pocket. This must be something maclicious, Darr thought to himself & promptly reported it to the Match referee. When the match referee grilled him about the stone, Munda would later on go on to reveal, he had been eyeing dada rocks (who was in the crowd) as his target & he never quite got a straight shot at him. The local residents, who till then thought dada & Munda were distant cousins, expressed deep shock at the incident. Gator had been having several sleepless nights in a row. He sensed something had been crawling up his a$$ each nite & bothering him in his sleep. He tried an insect repellant from a local drug store, the problem only got worse. The other day he had seen something crawling thru the door. Sure enuff its a rat, excalimed Gator. He went to the local South Indian restaurant & got a "Masal Vada". The smell was so appetising, he himself ate half the vada which he bought to set a trap for the rat. The trap was laid and the creepy mouse did show up. The next morning Gator woke up and found that the vada was missing, but the trap empty. He had never seen a rat like this before. Till date, he has never been able to catch the real devil. However rumours have it that some strange man, walks in every nite, into the community, with his walkman, speakers & several other audio devices, eats all the food in the fridge pinches people on their butt & walks away.

Dhondy Posted February 25, 2007 Author Posted February 25, 2007 Re: Forum Cricket Match The Challengers' innings was moving on. Parth had just been dismissed by Rahul after a blistering 65, and had been replaced at the crease by Lurker. There was a slight disagreement on the outfield between Kabira from the fielding side, who was keeping score between overs, and the official scorer. Kabira's scoresheet showed 30 less runs than the official tally, which was not surprising. Kabs had manipulated every scoresheet, competition and office lottery to his advantage over the years. Kabira's thought processes made for interesting observation. He had no hesitation in proclaiming Chandrasekhar as the best batsman ever to have stepped on the cricket field. It probably stemmed from the fact that he had come out last in every school exam from kindergarten through to school leaving, and had rigged his report card to make it look to his deliriously pleased parents that he was top of the class. Legend has it that for his impending return to India, Kabira has stated his nine year old son's age as one year and eleven months on the official form to skimp on the fare. He was already reading up on gigantism as a plausible excuse. Lurker looked around the crease. The umpire at square leg looked nice. Wonder if she was from Bombay? Maybe he could ask her out for a drink afterwards? Lurker had a very high opinion of Bombay girls, as Bihari men often do. He also had other curious habits. He had wanted his name underlined in the team sheet. Lurker felt that people were wont to miss the important bits unless you drew a line under them. Now he drew his bat forcefully over the batting crease- another faded line that needed reinforcing- and asked Shailesh for guard. (to be continued)
