Where would India's 3rd test draw at Sydney rank amongst the all-time performances in drawn tests or run chases?

In the recently concluded test India took determination to a crescendo rarely seen in any form of cricket displaying nerves of a great military commander and mental tenacity or resilience of a monk.Literally India ressurected from the grave to reach moral glory like an army confronting an enemy with death defying courage.

 

I would have backed India to win with a fully  fit Ravindra Jadeja and lose by a slender margin with Jadeja injured.Rishab Pant arguably surpassed any test bating of Dhoni matching strides with the great Adam Gilchrist.Rarely has a wicketkeeper taken domination to such sublime proportions when batting as Pant at Sydney.Infact I strongly feel it was his attacking agression that laid the platform for India who were in a wining position one stage.Ashwin and Vihar fought with death defying courage.

 

 

Overall In a run chase I place this performance in drawn games only below Pakistan saving the 1st test in India  at Mohali in 2005 and South Africa saving the 2nd test in Australia in 2012-13.

 

Overall in drawn tests in addition to games I already mentioned I only place Pakistan saving the 3rd test in Georgetown in 1977 ,Australia saving the 2nd test at Trinidad in 1984 and New Zealand saving the 1st test against England in 1985 ahead.A drawn game very close was India saving the 1971 test at Port of Spain with Gavaskar scoring a 124 and 220 and the 2nd tset at Trinidad in 1983 with Amarnath scoring a century.

 

 

In performances in run chases overall I rate it just behind India falling 48 runs of target of 493 at Adelaide in 1977-78  and falling 9 runs short of target of 438 in 1979 at the Oval.The best wa s ofcourse India scoring the then record 4th innngs total at Trinidad in 1975-76 of 406.
