Our lives since the last few centuries have been influenced heavily by the west. Below is a short list:

  • Nation formed due to British Raj
  • Concepts of laws and secularism (though it has its roots in Ind too, while west would have used it as a part of divide & rule policy)
  • Clothes that we wear - pants, shirts, ties, suits, etc. (the ladies still continue to rely on salwar kameez, sari, etc.)
  • The game that we follow the most - cricket
  • The movies that we tend to seek inspiration from
  • The weapons that protect us (Rafael)
  • The language that we speak and this post is written in

On the plus side, the food still continues to remain traditional (have not completely switched to burgers, pastas, pizzas, etc., yet)! ... Economically, we may have certain limitations but how (and what) do we add more of the Indian traditional culture back to our lives to stay connected with past while shaping the future esp. if it can help to improve certain aspects of the nation and people' lives ? Or has the boat has sailed with nothing much to salvage and we continue to evolve? ... Of course, the need to overcome overpopulation, pollution, corruption, child abuse, animal cruelty, and so on is a priority too.
