amarnath could have been a good selector in principle. he was handled badly by selectors himself, and should therefore have learnt some valuable lessons

What lessons? He did nothing wrong in removing Dhoni

1. 4-0 loss in England 2011. This was after we had won the previous series 1-0. Start of pretty dark times for the Test team. India won the WC and then played IPL right after the tournament. I think there was hardly 10 days gap. Then decided to miss the WI tour which only had Rahul Dravid playing and we all know who scored all the runs in England following that.

2. 2012  2-1 home loss to England. This is probably one of our worst performances at home. Seems like after winning the first Test we took the series for granted.

3. 2013-2015 Overseas tours. These tours were the first ones without our legends and we had multiple chances to win games which we squandered. In SA we should have won the first Test and in NZ we should have won both. In England after leading 1-0 after 2 Tests we ended up losing 3-1. We lost 2-0 in Australia but I wouldn't call that as a disappointment as we played reasonably well in that series.

4. 2016 WT20 semi-finals. Our best chance to win a tournament. After putting up a decent target and getting them 19/2, we messed that up big time. One of our worst performances.

5. CT 2017 - Absolutely shocking performance. Starting from Bumrah no ball to how we bowled and batted after that, it was a disaster all round.

6. 2019 WC semi-finals - Once again poor team selection and performance. On that pitch just selecting 2 regular fast bowlers + Pandya was a bad move. India should have had Shami but still we got a very decent total to chase. Absolutely chaotic batting throughout.

7. 2018 & 2021/22 series losses in SA. Both the series we had a great chance of winning, especially the latter when we had hammered them in the first test.

8. England series 2021, After dominating them in the first 4 Tests we should have completed the series in 2021. We pulled out and then got hammered in 2022 from a different team who were playing a different brand of cricket to what we saw in 2021. We were not prepared.

9. 2021 T20 WC, horrible performance. Don't even have to say anything more. Getting bowled out for 100 against NZ was beyond pathetic

10. 2022 WC semi-finals, I have at least 3 semi-finals losses listed here in the 10 worst moments. This probably takes the cake with absolutely clueless captaincy and bowling. Losing by 10 wickets is probably the biggest humiliation.
