The Chennai Super Kings captain is likely to buy a luxury apartment at MRC Nagar that could cost him anywhere between Rs 1.5 crore and Rs 4 crore, according to real estate biggies. Dhoni has expressed interest in buying an apartment in phase II of Rani Meyammai Towers, opposite Image Auditorium, MRC Nagar. The seven-block luxury complex with nine floors each has apartments overlooking the Bay of Bengal. If Dhoni decides to take it, he will be choosing Chennai speedster L Balaji as his neighbour. The facilities Dhoni is offered: An air-conditioned club house, swimming pool and jacuzzi, a gymnasium with all basic equipment, a kids gym and a games room. The complex will have a beauty parlour, business center, administrative office, conference room, departmental store, library and creche. "He has expressed interest. But we don't want to comment until it's registered in his name," said an official at Chettinad House, the builders. "Dhoni has seen the place. The rate de-pends on the flat he chooses. Those on the upper floor, facing the sea cost are costlier than the rest," he said. So, how much will Dhoni be shelling out? If he chooses a ground floor apartment, without the sea view, he will have to pay the lowest price of Rs 8,750 per sq ft, which is Rs 1.4 crore. But if the chooses one of the top floors with a sea view, Dhoni will have to spend Rs 4 crore, at 13,500 per sq ft. :omg::omg::omg: Construction of the first phase of the apartment complex is complete and is already home to people like Balaji. Many of the residents in the apartments are NRIs, businessmen and doctors. "We screen people who want to buy these apartments. We want the residents to have a home and immediate surroundings," the official at Chettinad House added.

Guest HariSampath Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 That complex is terrific, I live on the southern side of the Theosophical Society, a few hundred feet from the seaside , I know the rates are astronomical. These rates are just the "official" rates. Those apartments are always bought for much higher amounts and the official rates are almost always reduced sums shown for paper puposes.

If India cements folks see the deal going through soon, they will choke over their breakfast....they pay Dhoni 6 crores per year to be brand ambassador and play for them, while Chettinad, their direct competitors get great publicity / advt through Dhoni by selling him an apartment for just 4 crores !!! Chettinad wins either way...Dr MAM Ramaswamy must have fallen off the sofa laughing when he heard about Dhoni's interest and Srinivasan of India cements must be fuming and asking "how the heck this can happen...why dont we bloody well build that blackguard a mansion for 4 crores and give it free to him " :D

Maybe thats the angle he is trying :-D Get a 4 crore mansion for free from Srinivasan!

The property on Palace Green - one of the most expensive houses in the world - is close to Kensington Palace Gardens, where steel tycoon Mittal lives. His son Aditya, 32, has been searching for a London property near Mittal's house, which the steelmaker bought for 57 million pounds from Formula One chief Bernie Eccleston in 2004. Now the search may be finally over: Noam Gottesman, an American-born hedge fund mogul, is close to exchanging contracts on the house, the Times newspaper reported. The price works out at more than 8,000 pounds per square foot and smashes the previous record of 80 million pounds for a London home, set only three months ago for a property in nearby Upper Phillimore Gardens. The newspaper quoted "property sources" as saying the family of L.N. Mittal, Britain's richest man, had made an approach for the house, which is next door to the Israeli Embassy. Another paper said the house was being bought by Mittal for his son. Stephen Holmes of the London property agents Savills said: "That address is very exclusive and I'm not surprised by the figure.
