THX_1138 Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 ok... with all my rantings about Peter Singer, i cant help but fantasize about this: https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=142&pID=11039 i have the 305... but less than a year after i bought it, they launched the 405 that just makes me quiver in weird places... is it wrong that i am more fascinated with electronic gadgets than female mammary glands?
coffee_rules Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 I recently bought a garmin car GPS (nuvi 650). I realized later that I know all the roads I use and I rarely use it. What a waste!
THX_1138 Posted May 23, 2008 Author Posted May 23, 2008 neat... i have had my eyes set on a bowflex for some time... but i wont know where to keep it!
Lurker Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 neat... i have had my eyes set on a bowflex for some time... but i wont know where to keep it! Thats more a Squat/Smith Machine rack Thx. I intend to get this one of these days. Mine would be more nuts and bolts though, a rack that is exactly the same but without any cable support a la Smith Machine. Bowflex is pretty neat though I must say I have never used one myself.

THX_1138 Posted May 23, 2008 Author Posted May 23, 2008 That isn't a Bowflex. yeah i know... i just remarked that i too want an exercise machine... just that my desire is for a bowflex.

I quite like the 3d versions

ludhianvi Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 a 3 d interface? I've seen gps systems that give a 3d view sorta like google maps when you overlay the satellite view on top of the normal maps. Perhaps i'll find an image
THX_1138 Posted May 23, 2008 Author Posted May 23, 2008 oh no! this is not really your traditional gps device. it has a gps connecting antenna... but its really a fitness training accessory. this 405 model does exactly what my 305 does but it has a touch sensitive bezel and is a bit smaller. what these units do is basically use a gps satellite to map your movement, your elevation and an onboard computer measures your heart rate, calories burnt etc. also it permits you to interface with a computer and then upload the trail you ran on or biked on (if you use it with a bike, you can count your cadence i.e. number of times you spun the pedal) to a community where you can share suggestions comments etc. also i intend to use it when i go trekking in india later this year. usually my friends and i venture through forests etc and avoid previously mapped routes and this would be invaluable in finding our exact location w.r.t. latitude and longitude readings. it does not have a map overlay... sorry!
