We lost some away odi series which was nothing out of the ordinary and had some big losses to SL in Sharjah and the Asia cup but other than that we played some pretty good cricket and under Chappell and after Dhoni becoming the WK reached new heights compared to the 90s. By that time at least the Indian audience turning off the tv because Sachin got out was well and truly behind us at least.

We had our moments but were consistently poor in ODIs  until 2007. We lost plenty of ODI series.  We beat only England in the Natwest series 2002 and yeah Pakistan 04 and 06  series wins were good. 

 

Otherwise, year by year since 2001 (since you suggested you would've agreed that we were bad until 2000 but not afterwards

It's only from the PAK tour of India 2007 onwards that we started consistently winning in ODI cricket.
