Desi Cartman Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 MUMBAI, June 3: Mahendra Singh Dhoni might have missed the inaugural Indian Premier League title by the proverbial last ball but he has come out of the shattering thriller with his popularity intact. If there was any proof required, he got on Monday when he received an invite from one of the main sponsors of Euro 2008 to be a guest for one of the matches. In fact, it is more than just an invitation to watch a match. If everything falls into place, he will actually be giving away the Man of the Match award on June 15 for the Portugal-Switzerland game. Just imagine: if Cristiano Ronaldo happens to be the best player in that match, we will see Dhoni and Ronaldo on the same stage. The invitation, from Carlsberg, says: "I would like to inform you that it would be the first time in the history of the Euros that someone from India has been requested to grace the occasion. It will be a proud moment for India as the international press would be there to cover the event." :isalute::isalute::isalute: Euro 2008, the world’s second biggest football tournament, is being played in Switzerland and Austria and will start on June 7. The Portugal-Switzerland match is in Basel on June 15. As far as Dhoni is concerned, there is only one catch though: he will be playing a tri-series in Bangladesh just around that time. If India go all the way, the Indian skipper won't be able to leave Dhaka before June 14, the day of the final. So if it comes to choosing between the final of a not so important series in Bangladesh or presenting award at Euro 2008 , what should Dhoni choose ?
Desi Cartman Posted June 4, 2008 Author Posted June 4, 2008 my take , its not an important series and if he is at the Euro then it might help to direct some attention towards the Indian Soccer ..

satishg Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 representing India in cricket is much more greater than going to any event jus coz he got some invitation..its not like he is gonna represent India in Euro 2008..its jus that u feel India mite get some attention coz of this..which is total bull ****..Cristiano Ronaldo wudnt even care abt which country Dhoni is coming from..so MSD shd and will play the finals rather than going for this event..and how does MSDs presence in this match gonna increase the attention towards indian soccer..only if our team wins any major cup does that add any significance..not coz of his presence..
