WI win would send a strong message to the other teams

India's crushing win against WI will force other teams to turn and take notice of India's form. To actually bowl out the home team for 85 and then canter to a 9 wicket win is a great start to the tournament for India... Some would say that -- " Oh well its just a warm up match.. " but i think the teams have taken the matches dead seriously and this win should be given its due credit.. As far as India is concerned -- So far so great !!! :hic:

Re: WI win would send a strong message to the other teams I think it is best to go one match at a time for India. So far the batting and bowling both has been spot on barring Sehwag's form with the bat and Pathan's with the ball. Although these two are concerns they may not contribute to losing games right, left and center. It was good to see the three pacemen doing really well. Kumble and Harbhajan are not a concern they will come good mostly it is the not so experienced bowling that needs to be spot on. Batting has slowly worked to decent form from the time India lost the test series against South Africa. Hopefully they are peaking just at the right time and not way too soon. WI has lost pretty badly to India in the last couple of encounters and that surely will play in their minds. Lara can make a difference but he isn't really the one to score in every game.

Spot on. Even though i didnt watch the whole game but one could see how seriously Indian team took this game. If you read match reports most speak about how WI batsman threw wickets. Yes a few did give away there wkts but not all. Gayle, chandu, sarwan, Samuels were all bowlers wickets. Lara corrected his shot, its still bowlers wicket. Besides WI had 9 batsman yet they scored 85. Well done India.

^^^ I think lara was suprised that an International Bowler can actually pitch one in the middle of the track at 100km/pr :lmao:
Actually many bowlers deliver intentionally slow ones at that speed. If anyone can hurl a slow one with ease, Lara should have known it would be Pathan.

Warm up matches tend be insignificant; but not for India. The Indian cricket team is an extremely temperamental, momentum-guided outfit. When they are in form; they can be unstoppable (see India in '02/03 or 05/06) but a few losses here and there and the rut sets in for an indeterminate amount of time. Hence the up and down nature of this side. So, keeping that in mind - the more wins they experience in the leadup to the tournament, the better it will be for them. These smooth victories in the warm-ups will serve as morale boosters for the team. This can only be a good thing as India need the momentum behind them. The good vibes will carry them through the first group stage, and from that point on the trophy will be theirs' for the taking.
