You do show pakistani morality every once in a while not that i am sugesting or questioning ur stated national identity.. So let us say a rapist accepts hsi crime and he should be rsepcted because he was honest about his crime:hysterical:

Very well said dada. Being honest about a crime does not belittle the act itself. And I hate this trend of confessing with a grin after retiring. Started by the great Imran Khan.

There is nothing new about this really. I have read about such behaviour from Salim Altaf(apparently the first Pakistani bowler to reverse it), Sarfaraz Nawaz etc. Later on Imran admitted it in court, Waqar was convicted for it and Akram has admitted it more than one occassion. However in this specific iteration Akram is well within his rights. There is no way any Governing body can stop a team from stopping the ball by using their feet(and hence boots). When one picks the seam by nails, fingers, bottle tops then it is a clear case of ball tampering. However if one stops the ball by his boots and in the process the spikes hit the balls so be it. Most fast bowlers will do that in their run up. They dont have enough time to bend. Or for that matter a fielder trying to stop a boundary. Also what about the batsmen? When after every delivery they go to the good length area and "farm" the pitch where the previous ball landed??? Why is that not tampering? xxx
Yes they can't stop him from stopping the ball with boots . but it does tell a thing or two about the moral makeup of the bowler, the confidence in his own ability sans shady practice ( verbal diarrhoea of people like boycott notwithstanding), whole brouhaha surrounding his name to the effect he could this and that. All that becomes a dubious record in my view.......Here its not ICC questioning it''s the guy himself accepting he did that for the sole pupose of tampering with the ball.

now that is just going over the top... wasim was just being innovative in a batsmen dominated game...full marks to wasim wasim you genius as lurker said above, no rules stopped any bowler from stopping the ball with his boot...just bending the rules, not breaking them

I didn't see any words against Murali there.. he is just saying chucking is an art from there to leap to Murali chucked takes some huge jump..
Yes he did not name any names but he very clearly says
The rules have been mended or bended or whatever, for the sake of I don't know who. The thing is simple: if somebody chucks, he chucks; if somebody doesn't chuck, he doesn't chuck. There shouldn't be any 15-degree rule. It's just making things complicated
I dont need to explain any further do I?

I dont quite see it that way. I am with you in that it is illegal and hence can not be done. At the same a part of me also rationalizes that the game is so heavily loaded in favour of the batsmen that most modern cricket laws seem stupid. I have already mentioned how when a batsman "farms" a wicket after every delivery it is supposedly okay. However if a bowler does the same he is deemed as unsporting. Why? In terms of "tampering" balls, isnt that something batsmen do all the time?? I mean which batsman, from Bradman to Tendulkar, walks into the middle with a new bat? Most of these bats have been "knocked out" for hours and any half decent batsman spends a ton of time "breaking in" the bat. How is that not "tampering"? In this particular case I am okay with bowler stopping ball with his boot. xxx

And Boycott had crystal balls:hysterical: . I guess they themselves didn't have that kind of belief in their ability otherwise they would not have resroted to these sort of shady tactics.... Not buyign could have nobody held gun to their head and asked to delve into these ball tampoering tactics.. IF they could have then they shoudl have instead of indluging in this.. And yes in pakistan this might be lclutching at starw but for the rest oif the world is as good as confession.. These folks will awlays have an asterisk attached to their name.. Confessed ball tamperer that is
No he didn't have crystal balls but unlike you he did have a ladder and was able to get to these grapes.jpg

Good keep yourself to these high-school level remarkls.. leave the rational analysis to those who can think.. Boycott said this or that mean zilch zero nada when the person himself had no cofidence in his ability and would rather tamper with the cricket ball in myriad ways he can think of in order to take wickets let alone bowling with apples/oranges..

U know lurker there is a rule in scientifc parlour that while reviewing a paper if u see the term 'clearly' 'obviously' etc mentioned, then dump it into dustbin.. Yor are adovocating rule changes to make the game fair between bat and ball a different issue altogether.. I am viewing it as the fair game between bwolers of different country. One set of thugs from a certain country flund these rules and accept it with a grin after retirement and I am supposed to respect his exploits as a sportsman. When i point this out few clowns will say its sour grapes :haha: Sounds like a thief in the courtroom defending his case by saying those who are not good at thieving are acting with sour-grapes syndrome against us thieves:hysterical: You should be oke with thieves too lurker

I think I am keeping the focus of the discussion at what it actually is - issue of fairness between bat and ball. And I have already given you a couple of points as to how one rule for batsman is completely different when compared to the same logic when it comes to the bowlers. In my book it doesnt make sense. I also think you, by your own admission, are looking at it with a completely different angle - a certain country and its history etc etc.

I am looking for fairness across the board with existing rule set.....All powers to you if u think rule need to be changed but I had ignored that part while respodnign earlier.. here are my thoughts viz a viz bat and ball fairness. Batsman farming wicket after every delivery man walking slowly and removing stuff.. BTW even batsmen are not allowed to run on the pitch if they do that it will be unsporting and he might even be reprimanded for this .. and million dollar fact is batsmen from both team are allowed to farm...... here we are talkng about people breaking the rule and publicly accepting it.. it's bonafide ball-tampering to me unfair to the other team playing against these thugs

W Akram is a convicted match fixer...convicted ball temperer? ..convicted drug abuser( spent some time in jail for this) and ..and he has taken heap loads of wickets due to ball tempering and his skills... thats about it... i have always appreciated honesty and integrity in sports...and thugs should not get respect for their thuggery ...

That only tilts the game in favour of batsmen from both sides isn't it? It does not create a degree of equality between batsmen and bowlers. Batsmen farming the pitch is often more than merely removing stuff. The batsmen use an extrenal object - cricket bat - to knock on the pitch and "balance" the pitch. Now would it be okay for bowlers to bang the ball on the seam on the wicket, or outside for that matter? Of course not. And your point about batsmen asked not to run on the wicket, while correct, is again the same thing -disparity between the rights of bowlers and batsmen(for both sides).

I will say what I said in my first post of this thread - if a bowler wants to stop a ball by his boots and in the process get its spike in the way I am all for it. However tampering by removing seams by fingers, bottle-tops etc are completely off the list. The reason for that would be: a) Stopping ball by boots is instictive reaction and no laws around it can be made to stop. b) Stopping the ball by boots can always backfire if the wrong side gets affected by the spike. Since there is absolutely no way a person can know exactly which side the ball will be when it meets the boots this to me becomes a non-issue. On the other hand when a bottle-top, finger nails etc are used it is fool-proof, you know which side to tamper with. xxx

DR, WA is a fast bowling legend and one of the best to have graced cricket. Do u agree or not? Y/N
Categorical no.. I don't accord any credence to the records of confessed cheats.. There is no way of knowing how bad he would have been without those shady practices anyway..

Batsman just to the gentle tapping man u are overreacting there as if they are using some farming tools:--D I may not agree with your point of batsman or bowker geeting a fare share but those issues are established legal practices followed by both teams. But this illegal ball-tampering is done by thug-bowlers from just one country.. They even have gall to accept the same.. These days nobody does that and are not allowed to do it.. REad it he is talking about using spike meaning sole of the shoe those guys used to use with the sole intention of tampering with the ball.. Nobody does it these days since awareness is more and thugs can't pass off their thuggery.. Very fact that he did it with intention to tamper , tells all one needs to know about it.. Your concern about other side getitng hit doesn't seem to be concern for him because he had a way out of those bad luck through shining obviously he was not that bothered about it and the interview does mention it. Whereas when ball hit the right side in hsi words it was christmas.. Shameless thug that's the word which comes to mind...... All I ask is this guy being held accountable for what he did ... This obvious crime gets drowned in the chorus of he was great how the hell anyone knows how much of that greatnes he owes to these shady practices ....... Thug great now that could be apt description.. ICC should come with a list of bowlers with confessed shady practies and he can claim greatness certainly not in the section of those who played fairly
