Common factor in India's last 2 T20 losses

India barely loses a T20 match and the loss rate for the last few years has been almost once every 8 or 9 matches. But India has dropped 2 matches recently  - one to SA in WT20 and one to Ireland yesterday and there's one common factor. It's the presence of useless Sundar! The guy is so useless and such a low impact player that he negatively influences India's performances. It's more than clear he's not a LOI player.He has no hitting skills, can't bat for long or put up a big score, can't bowl and is probably the worst catcher/fielder in the team dropping sitters.

 

Gambhir and selectors are trying to find another Axar but Axar is in a different league altogether. If Sundar had played in the last few ICC tourneys instead of Axar, we would still be looking for an ICC tourney since 2013! Sundar throughout his career hasn't won even one single LOI match, and is a poor man's Jadeja without the bowling and fielding skills!

 

I've said it a few times already that if you want a replacement for Axar in the shorter term, Krunal is the closest we have. And in the longer run go with Parag, Vipraj Nigam for spin, and Reddy, Madhav Tiwari or Shedge for a pace all-rounder. In fact I would've preferred Nitish, Tiwari or Shedge in the team as the next 2 WCs (ODI and T20) are in SA and Aus and we'll need a pace all-rounder. But what do our selectors and Gambhir do? Double down on the useless Sundar 

 

I would consider this Ireland and Eng tour a success if selectors and Gambhir finally see the error of their ways and realize Sundar is not a LOI player (like Prasidh Krishna) and drop him from the scheme of things. I would happily accept India being white-washed in exchange for Sundar dropped from T20s and ODIs and not considered for any LOIs moving forward. Selectors need to differentiate across formats. Sundar, Prasidh and Siraj are Tests only players, and Tilak is not meant for ODIs. We've enough talent for every format and let's not try to force players who do well in one format or IPL into every format
