Rajiv Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 If u have HBO, don'tmiss this. I saw the first episode, its about American Troops in Iraq The best scene in the first one was a marine is watching through his binoculars and gets all worked u, only to find out the 10 cars he was seeing was pizza hut delivery in the middle of the desert http://www.hbo.com/generationkill/

THX_1138 Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Another notable mention was the improper stockpiling and inventory of the greatest army in the world: it had to ration something as trivial as batteries. i have a friend serving in iraq, and he drives a HMMWV in tikrit region... and told me that when he arrived there first in 2003 winter, he had to arrange for his own kevlar from the store at the barracks, had to buy his own tubings for the coolant tanks of his vehicle, and heck, he even had to buy his own little portable mini fans that he mounted on the daskboard to keep a gentle breeze flowing. and what ticked him off even more was that a year or so later, the custurd battle guys (sort of like blackwater, except these people were kicked out for incompetence) were loaded to the teeth with goodies and were being paid through the ceiling!
THX_1138 Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Rajeev didn't they kill "Over There" on FX?? i thought that show was really promising. they were planning another series with a dystopic near future where an oil crisis compounded by acts of terrorisms against american oil tanker were forcing american society into turmoil... whatever happened to that... i do hope generation kill lives to see a couple of seasons... but knowing HBO, i think the series is safe.
