well its a blessing to be a hindu, so only blessed people can enter temples. i wouldn't want any non-hindu to enter the temple of my deity. rules are rules, every entity has them, so if a temple has them, all of a sudden we become taliban?? this pseudosecular bullcarp is getting on my nerves now

I fully endorse it no person which has no respect for others belilef.. ( yes those politically correct soundbites notwithstanding zero respect for others have bene enshrined in their doctrine and I am not buying any lip-service to the contrary) has no business in entering other people's place of worship....... You don't like me you are not invited in my house it's simple.. It's my domain and I am free to choose who to entertain and who not to.. Anyone who equates this to taliban ,well has zero clue about taliban in particualar and shariah in general.. our ethos shouts Akam brahmam vipra bahudha vadanti ( all path lead to the same almighty) And their ethos shouts I am right and everybvody else is wrong.. Not only wrong but they are hell bound

How shameful is this ? In today's India if we cant allow a person of different faith in a temple then how different are some of us from Taliban ...
Shameful? Indeed. Taliban like? Hardly. I would ideally like every religious structure in India to be open to everyone. I have had as much fun visiting Deogarh temples as I have at Haji Ali. So yes religion should not matter.

See in this case the poor guy is not guilty because he did't know so no fuss should be made about it.. but the larger question that soemhow since we don't allow those who have zero respect for some place's sanctitiy and belief then we some how become shariah peddlers is taking it too far and also is downright naive and sensationalilstic

Oh come no now. Stop saying this is hip, this is liberal and all that. It just puts a bad taste in mouth. As for your assertion. There can be more than 1 reason: a) Some of us are just plural in nature. As in someone who can appreciate every religion. That is very different from considering other religion as garbage. I can be a Hindu and still appreciate Christianity say. I studied in Catholic schools, like many Indians, and often have been in churches. It is a great place to be really. b) Even if I may not appreciate a religion I can still appreciate its achievemens. ANd the earliest achievements for most religions have been in the field of Architecture. From Khajuraho to Puri to Ajanta Ellora, they have all basis in Religion. Why shouldnt they be opened and let others have a feel for its beauty?? xxx

That's precisely my point hindu appreciates every religion not only appreciates acceots it as legitmate way of attaining spiritual slavation..Good for you if you are plural but this question was for those who ain't plural i.e musllims.. I accept no hindus should be disallowed from any religoous place because they accept all path as legitimate and respect it.. Question is why should those who don't have slightest of respect for the ways belief of places be allowed entry.. Forget respect their belief is that just because those Puri temple or some other temple people believe in something they are going straight to hell..My question is for those why should these characters be allowed .....We are talking about temples churchs msoques etc let us leave schools aside.. Your problem is that s you have assumed that since you , a hindu, are plural hence everyone else also is b) Even if I may not appreciate a religion I can still appreciate its achievemens. It's not tourist spot where one goes for appreciating architecure..Place has some sanctitty attached and first reuirement is to accord bare minimum respect before seeking entry. One doesn;t have to enter the temple for appreciating architecture anyway if they are so moved despite havign utmost scorn for the belief system which made possible that architecture in first place. xxx

Jesus ! What if Puri temple decide tomorrow that dalits are not gonna be allowed inside the temple..Archaic rules has no bearings in the 21 st century. Nothing wrong with a Muslim entering the temple as long as he obeys minimum rules such as removing slipper , not being drunk at the time of visitation etc. But, Muslim should extend the same courtesy to folks from other religion ...

BTW mostly Dargahs around India do have respect of Hindus too and people visit there but am not sure there exists even single temple which gets respect from muslim community.. BTW I am not against the visit if you can respect.. let me share some anecodte pretty soon everything about me will be public here.. I had Ali Nana.. well he was Nanaji's indepdendence-movement days friend.. he is long gone, now there is Nihal Mama.. These people do chhath pooja ( sun worship) the most sacred hindu festival in Bihar and are welcomed to the ghat to do pooja like anyone else.. If you respect others belief there wud not be any problme for others to allow in their sanctum sanctorum.. problme comes when you scorn ridicule and then ask why can't I enter your pooja room..

Illogical what if, although if someone has his own temple he can bar entry to anyone he wants but for public temples it's not going to work.. Point here is temple is not tourism place..

Actually DR I have very similiar anecdotes to share -- At least there are two Muslim folks from my neighboring village who come and play Dholak and Jaanjh-Mazeera during Akhand Ramayan paath -- it is a 24 hour recitation of Ramcharitmanas. This takes place annually in my village during Ramnavami. These two Muslim folks are fully versed in even singing Bhajans and can even correct a layman if he forgets while singing. What I did notice this time is --these foilks are not well versed in Quran in pure Arabic and hadith. So problem arises is when a Muslim of norrth India gets an Arabic madraassa education. Whatever one feels wrong here -- but I can say that you give more education of Islam and person becomes more cut-off from his Indic roots. IMHO.

Dont quite think every Hindu appreciates other religions, not at all. A lot of us are pure haters just like every other religion. As for your assertion that this question was for Muslims, what do you have to say about Christians, Jews? Do you want them to be out as well?
Your problem is that s you have assumed that since you , a hindu, are plural hence everyone else also is
Lets not be hasty here. Hindus are NOT plural. The example of Puri is up above where a non-Hindu has been kicked out. In the same vein Christianity is indeed plural. To the best of my knowledge they allow every religion. Also I would say Buddhism is plural as well. I have lived in Gaya, possibly the most holy place, for a good solid 20 years and never heard this thing there.

Maybe not for you but for a lot of people religious structures are indeed about Architecture. Many non Christians visit Vatican Palace. Do they go their to convert? Many non Buddhist visit Ajanta Ellorra etc etc. Do they go their to find moksha? COme on mate a lot of us can appreciate Architecture without reciting kalima. Just because you cant do it doesnt make it so.

Let me say this hinduism text does so it's presumed anyone who call himself hindu wud do that bare minimum.. here we are talking about some belief system whose text itself doesn't do that yes some secular minded I wud like to call hindu-minded muslims might do that going against the tenet of their book. YOu are seeking rules to be laid on the basis of these exceptions who technically cease to be muslim if they do accord the respect.. Again you are talking about very miniscule percentage of peopel who go there for architecture 99.99999% people visit temples lilke Puri for religious reason. Temple's first duty is to respect and preserve the religioisity. Again same example I can't expect to be given entry to your house just because I am interested in the linterior desing of your house despite me abusing you all the time..:--D

Let me correct you. We are NOT talking about some beleif system, YOU are. I have clearly suggested why temples should be open to everyone. It is you who has issues with a particular set of people so please dont say we. Lets agree to disagree on tourism/pilgrimage part. There is no way we can come up with numbers if 75% people visiting Vatican are Christians or if 23.76% people visiting Khajuraho are Hindus. I feel these places are world heritage and so should be available for people to appreciate its beauty, you differ and lets leave it at that.

Then let me correct you.. you are blowing your own trumpet then, topic certainly is why should not a muslim be allowed entry to hindu temple and this pretty much entails the mutual respect and lack thereof enshrined in each other's belief.. Yu coneveniently not like to dwell on that and it's your prerogative that certainly doesnt mean problem disappears.. You are yet to give even slightest of data in defence of why a person who doesn't respect a sanctity of place should be allowed entry in that place.. Regarding numbers on how many visit for what purpose .. wellu know the answer fpor instance how many visit devghar for architecutre for instance can u find me an architecural connoisseur who has no religious leaning in that flood of pilgrims chanting bolbuum.. If you you have to stick to the gun you are more than welcome but the point of architecure at best is bogey.. even then I won't allow a person who has zero regard for that place's significance otherwise but wants to see the architecture... before being world-heritage it's hindu temple and anyone who has nothign but unadulterated disrespect for it is not welcome.. too bad if they not like it

If the temple is a privately funded/owned organization, it is upto the owners to decide the policy, they are not accountable to anyone else, if it is subsidized in any way by the Indian government, then the temple cannot rather should not be in the business of saying who can come in or not. Same goes for churches/mosques etc.
