Newt Gingrich is a different person outside the congress, as when he was in the congress. people tend to forget that. He was instrumental in the pointless attempt to impeach President Clinton (when the current president ought to be tar and feathered for his repeated lies and obfuscation) and has on numerous attempts attempted to undo the work of the austin atheists organization which was instrumental in eliminating school prayer and promoting the education of the evolution. Once outside the Congress (incidentally, it was just last year that the scandal regarding his own promiscuity during the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal made news), he has toned down the rhetoric considerably and is enjoying the lecture circuit where you score points for being popular, not divisive.

in all fairness, outside of Senator Russ Feingold, and Congressman Dennis Kucinic, few democrats can claim to be at par with Biden when it comes to a sense of purpose and social awareness. one of my favorite mayors, Bloomberg used to take the metro, but later i learnt that he has a motorcade that follows him to the metro station and picks him up from there... thereby nullifying any supposed environmental conservation he might achieve by riding the metro.

Though one must state that Alaska is more red than the darkest red and most republicans enjoy considerable support amongst the predominantly oil based economy employed citizens. Nonetheless, Palin has a virtually spotless record and it complements John McCain's clean record quite well. However, this would be a first for the Republican party that has rarely ever drifted from the mantra of rich, old white men as their nominees, one might believe that this is a move to counter the fact that the Democrats have nominated an African American. Whatever the outcome of this election, its a significant step forward for both political parties.
