When the Indian cricket team loses as badly as they did today you don't expect bouquets. Your comparison of Ireland and India is way out of mark. Ireland won against full time heavy weight Pakistan. India lost against Bangladesh who has been around for 5 years. Despite the results the Indian cricket team gets support not because of the players but simply because they are Indians. BTW don't call everyone couch potatoes. Some here have played decent enough cricket to understand the ups and downs in a sport. Wonder what you were thinking since the last year when India failed to win in West Indies (1-4 loss), South Africa debacle, Malaysia debacle and the recent ICC champions trophy debacle. There were not little road blocks. I suppose you wake up and get a bit realistic. The team that struggled since about a year won't create miracles in couple of days. There are lot of losers in the team and they won't do any better in the WC. I suppose we should look beyond this WC.

Look Mandrake and Ravi and anyone else, please attack me all you want...i'm not going to get drawn into a Sunny-Pointing feud...but at least try to give what I'm trying to say a fair shot. If you have not yet ascertained my point it is this: that people, teams need support when things aren't going well...and that's what we should be doing now. There is a famous proverb "A man needs love the most when he least deserves it." We have to admit that us indian fans tend to over react -- from burning effiges to lighting to stoning our players homes...I did too, i'll admit it...i wanted every player to go commit harikiri...but you've gotta be able to step back and put things in pespective. Gandhi once brilliantly said "we must be the change we want to see." If we want to see our boys play like men, then we need to face this defeat like men. Give credit where it belongs -- to the tigers, and then pick ourselves up. And Ravi your claim that we played so badly last year is simply factually incorrect. It wasn't that far ago that we recorded the longest winning streak on chases...we convincingly beat Sri Lanka (albeit minus murali and vaas) and WI...we won a test match for the first time in SA...even teh loses against WI were all damn close games. We played like we always do: inconsistently, there were some big wins and some insipid performances. Props to Anakin! Man i don't even have the temerity to guarantee anything...but I will stick wiht my boys, we've got some real talent...its just a matter of expressing it.
