The whole Sarah Palin episode has opened my eyes to lot of new things. You would think that for something as important as the post of Vice-President of the United States of America, the candidate should be someone who has the stature, the experience, the knowledge, the vision and most importantly, the world-view of things. When you’re the President or Vice-President of the U.S.A, you don’t merely control the destiny of the 250 m American, but the rest of the 5.75 b human population too. But in Sarah Palin, what we have is a rabid nationalist, someone who keeps repeating the word ‘America’ almost every sentence, someone who still believes Global warming isn’t the work of human activity, someone who isn’t shy using words like ‘Evil’ to describe other world leaders. So, instead of an intellectual, a reformist and a forward thinking Candidate, what we have here is an ardent Christian, an extreme Conservative, anti-gay marriage, anti-abortion nationalist, who sees everything in black and white. When she was first chosen, I had wanted to give her the benefit of doubt… ‘Maybe, just maybe, she knows something, despite her inexperience’… I was wrong, horribly wrong. And yet why was she chosen? If she wasn’t chosen for his wisdom, knowledge or experience (none of which she has), then what was she chosen for? The obvious answer seems to be: ‘Glamour’. This former beauty pageant contestant doesn’t sound like a Vice-Presidential candidate every time she steps on the podium, she seems like she is there to make a fashion statement. Sleek-figure, designer glasses, ultra-cool outfits, carefully set hairstyles, you name it, she’s got it. Of course, her extreme nationalist, ultra-conservative ideologies don’t do her cause any harm either. Ultimately, in this world, it doesn’t matter how good you are. All that matters is ‘Are you a sellable product? Something that can be packaged and put forward?’ Sad, very sad.

On the face of it, it seems like it might have bad environmental repurcussions, but I never gave Obama credit for being against it. All I know is that Mc-Palin supported it, and Obama backtracked from his earlier position to support it. But I don't think anyone called Palin stupid for supporting this cause. They called her stupid because of numerous guffaws she did on various interviews: Samples.. 1). See Russia from Alaska... 2). INability to cite any Supreme Court cases she disagreed with. 3). Inability to name ANY newspapers she reads regularly 4). Total ignorance about bailout plan and super crappy blabbering relating it to health insurance..this was the final nail in the coffin for me really. NO DOUBT left in my mind after seeing that clip. 5). Lack of experience in most matters international.

She doesn't care for the environment etc. When I pointed out that Obama said "drill," the silence is deafening. Why are we averse to criticizing Obama for the same reason that we criticize Palin. When a legitimate criticism of Obama is brought up (his voting record being almost identical with McCain's), there is little comment. I just don't get it. And if I had a vote, I would not vote for either one of these slimeballs. I'd write in Ron Paul and be true to my conscience.

Dude, WE ****ING GET IT. Obama is no messiah. The expectations ARE low, since the worst 8 years of presidency are getting over. It can only go up from here if Obama wins, though. I don't expect him to solve the IRAQ and Afghanistan war crises, but I do expect him to use diplomacy more than rhetoric/sabre rattling. He is educated and aware of the issues. P.S.: I'd vote for Stephen Colbert.
