zubinpepsi Posted October 12, 2008 Author Posted October 12, 2008 well i did try in 5 other lappies.. dint work... well it was working fine all these days... issit tht external HD crashed????
DomainK Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 The pc talks about drivers because it can not recognize what has been plugged in. Since it does not recognize that its a hard disk, it would naturally assume that its some unknown device and would look for drivers to operate. The reason most probably is that hard disk has gone bad- either crashed or just went bad. The reason could also be that the USB pluin has gone bad. Take it to your hardware vendor. He is the best guy to advise you.
Aditi Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 Sounds like the disk got corrupted somehow - corrupted partition table, damaged boot record, or missing root directory information. Or as Domaink said, it could very well be a bad USB plug also. I think there is some software that you can download to recover data from a failed hard drive, but I don't know for certain. Sorry :(
