Indian fans no worse then others

Recommended Posts

I am sick of all the posts slagging of indian fans for showing OTT anger in India, as if they are the only fans that behave in such irrational way. The rest of the world does this and MUCH worse. Cricket is the passion and so we show our bad side when we lose in this. The rest of the world goes nuts over football and when football world cup comes around the fans in some countries are ridiculous. Beckham got death threats in uk after 98 wc. They burnt his effegies and he got abuse for 1 year at every football ground. Escobar got shot when he went back to colombia after 94 wc. Italians got pelted after arriving back in Italy after 66wc. Then there is the regular fan violence at football games all over the world. The indian fans reactions are nothing like the rest of the worlds reactions over football and other sports.

Re: Indian fans no worse then others okay instead of comparing us to them, we should see own crowd first.. they might be similar to us, but the way our ppl react is just sick.. burning effigies, throwing stones on one's house, Even Govt. Neta jiis coming on rally in their lungi and speaking so horribly to media that this team should come back and stuff.. it all sucks, this India, pakistan crowd is worst, and u have to agree with it...

Re: Indian fans no worse then others Not at all. You may be a yank so do not understand the sheer level of fanaticism in football. Regular stabbings and deaths amongst fans in Italy, Argentinan violence regularly at games. Spanish racism at grounds. English hard core violence at gronds through whole 70s and 80s. Indian crowds are way better then others. We just stomp our feet and burn stuff. Cant remeber any of our players actually getting hurt. Lots of barking not any bite. Football fans all over world bite not bark. Recently w ham player was surronded in London by 20 w ham fans after game and was racially abused and threatned

Re: Indian fans no worse then others Two wrongs do not make it right. Whatever sport and however the volume of violence it is deplorable. I can't feel happy just because other sport followers are worse than this one. For that sake there is no solace in comparing a pom hooligan to a violent cricket fan. This website deals with cricket and rightly we deplore such fans. If we were soccer fans and put together a soccer fan site we sure will deplore the violence in soccer.

Re: Indian fans no worse then others For gods sake no one is advocating violence. So need to lecture me on that front please. All am saying is lots of posts have been criticising indian fan behaviour as if indians are crazy and others dont do this. Almost saying we indians are pagal in how we behave while others dont behave like this.

Re: Indian fans no worse then others The way football fans protest against their teams is far more radical than what the Indians do back home. Real Madrid supporters smashed windows of cars after their 1-5 defeat at home to Real Zaragoza back in '00, and in the early 90's they spray painted the walls of the Bernabeu whenever the chairman made an unfavourable decision (ie; bringing in players from rival clubs). This christmas, the Palermo president received a boar's severed head in a box as fans weren't pleased with how their title challenge was faltering. People on this forum have no clue.

We're not lecturing ya and just like you we are merely stating what we have in mind. There are posts here concerning people back home burning effigies, trying to burn down captain's house (I heard that on the news), vandalizing someone's house, punching a coach in the airport et al. These are all voilent incidents of course. It doesn't have to involve killing of a player to be termed voilent. Vandalizing is not a peaceful procession is it :hic: Never was it mentioned others do it. I can't speak for others but I do know that happens in other sports too but I can't be posting that here as it is simply not relevant to this website.

Re: Indian fans no worse then others Well it is relevant as there have been many posts hammering indians and there mentality. Basically saying only indian fans behave like this and what idiots we are. Just needed to put things in perspective that things happen like this but MUCH MUCH worse all over the world. Thus IMO indian fans behave in a far more civilsed and controlled way then in comparison for eg english football fans or italian football fans
