(this was posted in random cricket thoughts thread, meh prolly deserved its own thread) There's this show called Paddying Up on Zee Sports and today they were interviewing Virender Sehwag. The interview was taken after the Test matches in Australia, so kind of recent. While I did not watch the full interview, here are some excerpts from the video. Btw, there's going to be a second part to this as well Sehwag's early days in the team: He said that Ganguly told him that I'll give you a fair chance and that you will have about 23-24 matches to prove your worth. Sehwag said this relieved some pressure off his shoulders and gave him confidence as this was the captain telling him and that even if he failed in the first 5 matches, he still had time to prove himself. On Ganguly's training with the team: The interview questioned whether Ganguly practiced as hard as the others in team. Sehwag replied saying yes,Ganguly also does the training like the rest of the team. One episode Sehwag recalled was that before the 2003-2004 Test series in Australia, Ganguly had gone there a week before the team and practiced there getting some tips from Chappel. On his debut Century in Test: On his debut at Bleomfontein,South Africa and coming into bat with score at 60/4, Sehwag says when he walked into the middle, Tendulkar told him to just enjoy the moment and savor the moment. He said this made him relax and gave him confidence to play his shots. As a striker According to Sehwag, he thinks that he was a better striker of the ball in his early years, especially against the spinners. Now, he considers himself to be a better striker against fast bowlers than spinners as he thinks he's got used to playing fast bowlers more at the international level. p.s I may have missed some of the details
