Absolutely, positively wrong. President Obama himself has never played the race card; in fact, he has stressed the need for higher responsibility. Bill Cosby has spoken in no uncertain terms on this matter. As have scores of other African-American leaders. Unfortunately, it is the Jesse Jacksons of the world who make the media headlines. I just finished reading 2 autobiographies - "Quiet Strength" by Coach Tony Dungy and "Running for my life" by Warrick Dunn - my favorite football player of all time. Uplifting.

But for every JJ, there is a Bill Cosby and a Barack Obama (I disagree with most of his views, but I truly admire his accomplishments) and a Tony Dungy and a Warrick Dunn. Their voices will be heard more. To answer your question: The wounds of segregation are still raw. People who experienced this are still alive. In contrast, Asians and Hispanics have never been denied fundamental rights.

In contrast, Asians and Hispanics have never been denied fundamental rights. i sort of disagree, its more to do with education, if you look at various education reports you will see only 17-18% of blacks have a college degree compared to 50% in asians, which results in asians having the highest median income. yes number of asians is much lower than blacks but how do they justify having lower median income than hispanic. i have interacted more with africans than "african americans" and wht i see in an african is willingness to do anything to make a better life ; AA are just the opposite but then this is just my exp which might be different than yours.
