And he freely admitted to it as well in the 2nd game. Let's hope he picks up on the feedback he has been given and improves. He is 19 and needs a guiding hand and honest appraisal of his efforts. Flattery by Dhoni will not make him improve. these honest appraisals can go on in dressing rooms.no need to criticise him in public.ishant was MoM in that game,so some nice words for him by dhoni wouldnt have hurt

He said that they were not clear in their thinking...and then Ishant himself came on the mike and said HE WAS not clear in thinking....i.e. Ishant let the cat out of the bag. Yes, I agree that Dhoni should have scored more boundaries then and he did try to go for the big shots, some of which didn't come off. So yes, you're still wrong, first because you weren't specific about the last five overs, and secondly because you're assuming Dhoni didn't want to score those boundaries. You can clearly tell from the last five overs that he was also trying to hit the ball hard, getting his front foot out of the way. At times it worked, on other times it didn't. So if you really want to fault Dhoni for anything, it's that he didn't execute his shots very well in the last five overs.

Yeah that was a champion team allright, I wonder what happened to the mighty champions Joginder Sharma, Uthappa. Not only did we have so many young players, but we were missing some of our best in SRT, ZK etc. It wasn't all because of Dhoni, but every time this man has been captain he's sent the same consistent message to his team which to play hard/aggressive cricket and enjoy yourselves and back each other up. Obviously young and old players have responded to that alike. There are many, many other captains, past and present who couldn't even do that.

He didn't name Ishant. He said WE. Now, if you connect the dots and the tubelight comes on with Ishants name on it...are you not really conceding that the problem was glaring? Did he say the bowling was atrocious...or the bowling was miserable....or we were let down badly...he said they were not clear in their thinking...this is hardly criticism. In fact, you may say that he was nursing Ishant from feeling he let the team down in that period by clarifying that is was the cluttered thought processes that caused the problem, nothing else. And Ishant, to his credit and to the greater realisation of his immense potential, took it on board immediately and you could see that the MOTM award was less important to him than performing his best. The lad was eager to be his best and not satisfied with the award and basking in its glory. This is excellent!

Whether it's a technique in his batting/wicket keeping, or something he hasn't done or done wrong as a captain. All he can do is point to vague signs like Dhoni didn't score enough boundaries, or he gave positive criticism to his bowlers!! :hysterical:

He criticised some of the bowling and batting and I think he only specifically mentioned himself and one other player as having done poorly.
