Don
18 Year old opener from Mumbai, came to limelight by Smashing 2 tons and 2 50's in the recent Indian u19 tour of NZ. Now catapulted straight into the senior Mumbai ODI team and stunningly doing very well. In his first match played a very steady hand with Jaffer who got 170, in the process getting himself a composed 69. In the 2nd game a Semifinal agaisnt UP, chasing a tricky target of 224, top scores from either side with 74 and helps Mumbai win the match. Him along with Rohit Sharma, are the two great hopes for the Mumbai Cricket. Already we have this small group of terrific youngsters cropping up. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Rahane, Tanmay Shrivastava, Piyush Chawla, Ishant Sharma, V Yomahesh, Abu Ahmed, S Nadeem, R Jadeja, Gaurav Dhiman, Cheteshwar Pujara Colonel who the fack says India doesnt have raw talent. chanakya
Re: Ajinkya Rahane taking Mumbai Cricket by storm These guys need to be groomed. Not trust into International cricket right away. We don't want more raina's. Guys like Sachin come once in a century. There is no need to hope that another saviour like him will come up from the ranks by throwing all the boys to the wolves. cricajar
Re: Ajinkya Rahane taking Mumbai Cricket by storm and what about Manoj Tiwary of Bengal... he too seems to be a good prospect Apparently Ganguly touts Tiwary as the next great indian batsman...I hope he's got a good eye for talent! Cuz we definitely need some batsmen with backbones. Link to comment
Don
Re: Ajinkya Rahane taking Mumbai Cricket by storm This group is all under 20 thats why didnt include Tiwary. But rest assured, after watching him bat agaianst Mumbai boasting Zak, Aggy and Powar, Ganguly is damn right. He does have testicular fortitude, but after following hin Ranji ODIs where he showed only flashes of brilliance it is imperative that we give him time, b4 we thrust him anywhere near team India. Don
Re: Ajinkya Rahane taking Mumbai Cricket by storm From Indian Express on Rahane's debut knock: At the other end was Ajinkya Rahane, the under-19 star who blazed his way with a series of hundreds in junior cricket. Rahane, too, joined the party with some thundering shots over the in-field ? a hook off Nehra for a six at backward square-leg being the pick of his 61-run knock that contained four boundaries and two sixes. Don
Re: Ajinkya Rahane taking Mumbai Cricket by storm Well he plays for Mumbai and is from Mumbai duh. You cant deny a talent because as Dal said we dont care if the all fucking 11 Indian players come from 1 village as long as they are the best at what they do, no zonal quotas please. Link to comment

He is left to the vultures of state board politicians at a very age Agree with talksports. Actually the domestic cricket in India is so poor that if a player is left to play there for long, the spark in him vanishes and the talent gets stale. At the most BCCI can organise A tours regularly and send our aspiring cricketers to other countries as much as possible. The last A tour we had was the top-end series in Australia last July. Why not send our A team to SA or Australia or even NZ or England? . Link to comment
