Zaheer Khan - The Conundrum..

Recommended Posts

Its true to an extent what the critics say. As good as Zaheer Khan looks when bowling he doesnt seem to have that knack of either destroy a line up when its going for him or pick up wickets with utter rubbish (that Jesse Ryder dismissal in that 5-fer being a genuine exception). Someone like Jerome Taylor took the slow, low, dead wicket completely out of the equation when things were going for him in Jamaica and left England in pieces in the space of seven overs which decided the series. Mitchell Johnson regularly picks up quality batsmen with complete crap and for no plausible reason. He has the least control or skill for any frontline paceman since a long time and still has an average of 26-27 and even picked up an 8-fer against a quality line up against pace on a flat wicket. Steyn sort of does both, picks up wickets with unplayable beauties and sometimes with high velocity pies. So I think Zaheer can now join Anandrao Flintoff, Fidel Edwards, Peter Siddle and possibly Ishant Sharma as quality pace bowlers who always look the part and apply pressure but never quite manage decisive, series defining, career defining spells that'll stay in someones memory for a long time. Its a pity really because there probably isnt a more complete, versatile, multi skilled or clever quick bowler in world cricket at the moment (Flintoff being the other one in contention).

:P [Edit: Nonsense not necessary] PS: Just to clarify, I think ZK is India's best currently by a large large margin. And he is doing a great job. To be among world's best ever, he needs to continue the good work for another 2-3 years with great consistency.
:hysterical::hysterical::cantstop: best editing job ever :two_thumbs_up:
