Just how shyte do WI look without Chanderpaul?

Recommended Posts

Struggling with the bat against fricking Leicestershire. Devon Smith, Dale Richards, Sarwan (the lone element of class and out for 4), Lendl Simmons, poor man's Chanderpaul (with central African levels of poverty) Deonarine... yikes, are there any decent batsmen left there now? Maybe they need to import some more Aussies.

doonu y they have labeled bravo odi specialist..he is easily the 2nd best bat in that lineup
They haven't labelled Bravo as an ODI specialist. He has been injured and is now in the IPL. Keep in mind that not only are WI missing Chanderpaul, they are also missing Chris Gayle.

They got some good players in Adrian Bharath and Darren Bravo (from wat I saw of him, he reminds me of BC Lara), but they keep on giving chance after chance to these Devons and Deonarines. Adrian Bharath is a class act, hope he gets to play one or two seasons in English county cricket before he pushes for a test spot. Simmons is a decent bat much better than D Smith.

WI are anyways perhaps one of the weaking ODI teams right now (I am not taking into consideration Pakistan, Bangladesh, Kenya, Afghanistan etc.) ... so Chanderpaul will hardly make any difference A few decades ago WI used to the best team consistently but their team has grown weaker .. their bowling was exception once upon a time but nothing of that sort too

Nice to see a comeback with Lendl Simmons and Nash making runs. Nash really impressed me. Brings some of that old school Australian steel into the WI middle order - much needed these days with guys like Smith so inconsistent. I've heard good things about Barath, would like to see him given some more chances.

True, but I think they have to space out Nash and Chanderpaul in the line up otherwise when they both get together, the scoring pretty much stalls.

Shiv is truly amazing! :hatsoff: As for the thread fail, glad to see some of the other WI bats standing up. Please, please, show this sort of backbone in the tests. I have very bad memories of watching the 2004 series where Chanderpaul was pretty much the only really reliable man while everyone else failed most of the time, and left him stranded. Saddest of all was the Lord's test where he scored a hundred in the first innings, deserved one in the 2nd and didn't get it because the tail fell down and left him stranded not out at 97. :(( (Of course, Kevin Pietersen being a total ****** and an obnoxious dickhead will say that Shiv is selfish and plays for himself.)

Reminds me of a certain player who used to carry the burden of the whole Indian team at one time:winky:

Agarkar? I heard he bore all of India's burdens and hopes for an all rounder - and managed to carry those expectations just on his ears!
And he is still listed as an all rounder:hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:

Bharath is good player so much so that Lara once gifted him a bat after watching him play in a Carib beer match.
Yup - Shiv bats way too low!
Shiv cant follow suit after Sarwan, there isnt much after them so they have to play apart. But when Bravo comes back they should have a decent middle order with Nash playing at No.4 and Bravo at six.
