This *****ed up village mentality is still in existence in the 21st Century. Religion too is just the worst aspect of human life. I'm so glad to be an atheist and free of religious obigation.

This happens more frequently in case of inter-caste marriages [and caste is not confined to Hinduism alone]. Incidents such as this are a reflection of far deeper problems - the inability to properly integrate into modern life. Europe is Christian to an overwhelming degree, but there are lots of inter religious marriages and nobody has a problem because by and large, people mind their own business.

No wonder our muslim celebs(male) mostly ends up marrying a Hindu...but you would never see a muslim celeb(female) marrying a Hindu. Hinduism is the most liberal and outreaching faith of all....many Hindus are atheist in a way coz they are not attached to any single deity but Vedic principles unlike other hardcore/fanatic/crazy faiths out there trying to convert as many people as possible daily.

Christianity and its people are pretty laid back..I mean they won't start up riots and such just because Jesus was made fun of in South Park. Or had The Cross hang upside down and insulted in movies like Exorcist : The Beginning. When it comes to Hinduism, a PS2 game based on HANUMAN was enough to get people rioting.

Throughout our history prior, its been the Hindus bearing the brunt of anti-Hindu sentiment. Thousands of temples were destroyed by Muslims, Portuguese and English , I doubt you'll see any examples of equal retaliation.
