Bradman99
What I would do is this.. 1. Katich 2. Hughes (another failure, he could be dropped) 3. Ponting 4. Hussey 5. Clarke 6. North 7. Watson 8. Haddin 9. Johnson 10. Siddle/Hilfenhaus 11. Clark Clark should be a certainty, I feel we have definately missed his prescence, how he did not make the side in the 1st 2 tests is beyond me. I think it's time to change it up a little bit and although I like Siddle and think Hilfy has performed well in the 1st 2 tests, I think one of them need to be sacrificed. Hauritz has done ok, but I dont want to see him in this one. What would you do? feel free to post up England's team as well. Link to comment

Mr. Wicket
Edgbaston is one of the pitches in England where you NEED a spinner. Heck Ashley Giles was very handy there last Ashes. I'd keep the top 7 unchanged. Drop either Siddle or Johnson for Clark, Hilfenhaus and Hauritz though both merit a place. (And in the mean time, put Bollinger on the first flight to London!) rainy day
I'd go with this side 1. Katich 2. Watson 3. Ponting 4. Hussey 5. Clarke 6. North 7. Haddin 8. Haurtiz 9. Hilfenhaus 10. Siddle 11. Clark Haurtiz is a decent bowler and has done well dropping him instead of Johnson is pretty reckless England 1. Strauss 2. Cook 3. Bell 4. Bopara 5. Collingwood 6. Prior 7. Flintoff 8. Broad 9. Swann 10. Anderson 11. Harmison Link to comment

Bradman99
you cannot drop your leading wickettaker . Probably true it's just that I would hate to see Johnson dropped (surprised people think we should) and there is something about Siddle that I like. That said, Hilfy would be hard done by. I didn't know much about the pitch, but... I just don't like Hauritz keeping his place in the team over these guys who are better.. It's frustrating, it's just cause he's a spinner. Link to comment
Mr. Wicket
You need balance, Bradman. You can't just take the Paki approach and go for all out pace. Hauritz has shown control and consistency that neither Mitch or Siddle have shown, and it's ridiculous to drop him when he's been tighter and more reliable than those two and more effective in terms of wickets. rainy day
Bradman why all the hate for haurtiz ? he isn't a bad bowler, bowls in a good channel with great accuracy and gives the ball plenty of flight. You guys have been spoiled by Warne ;) Link to comment
Fontaine
On merit Johnson should be dropped because his radar is way off and his action has become very slingy. Although I think Siddle should be dropped for Clark. Link to comment

That's going in with 3 bowlers at Edgbaston, where most attacks come under fire at some point in the match and you need as much variety as you can have. Please don't count on Watson bowling for any sustained period. In his interview he himself said that he was looking for 12-15 overs a day to start off with. And if his bowling in the IPL is anything to go by, he is a complete waste as a bowler now. Link to comment

I guess.. I'm willing to drop Siddle, but keep Johnson for sure.. He's too much of a dangerman to drop.. Hauritz just doesn't cut it for me though, with Clark in the side and Hauritz out I don't think we are losing much. In fact I think we are gaining a fair bit. @rainyday- 2 decent tests is all Hauritz has had, the rest of the time he has been terrible. He's a decent one day bowler at best for me. Link to comment

Chorazin Reto
Johnson is fulfilling an allrounder role atm so i dont see him being dropped just on his bowling alone, having said that, he still has managed to pick up wickets, if be expensive whilst doing it, the delivery to Prior was a gem. Hughes, id give him another test for sure if he goes through another Test with 2 low scores again id be asking questions when you have the likes of Jaques sitting around. Hauritz did well, they should break his fingers more often. Siddle would go for me if Lee was 100% fit, which he's not, and if they want to give Stuart Clark a run i see Siddle going as i feel they value Johnson's lower order batting, and Hilfenhaus has been the pick of the bowlers for me. Hughes Katich Ponting Hussey Clarke North Haddin Johnson Hauritz Clark/Siddle Hilfenhaus Link to comment
