Nope common practice in International cricket and in particular county cricket, that's where Pakistani bowlers first picked up ball tampering. Picking the seam with your nails was seen as a acceptable part of cricket.

^hahaah he is writing it happeninig in English Circuit. Did it happen in international circuit regularly? Only Imran, Sarfaraz, Wasim, Waqar Shoiab have been doing it on international circuit. Do you knwo any other bowler found guilty????

^^It says right there that in 1991 in a match between England and West indies the ball was changed because of ball tampering by an umpire. Next year the umpire was removed from the English umpiring panel :)

You misunderstood ( or i miss wrote ) the umpire changed the ball because it had been tampered with by the fielding side i.e England.
