Lurker
Probably the only series of its kind these days but what a big change it is to observe a 5 Test series as compared to the usual 3/4 Test series! Aussies ends up topping in stats but it is English who score runs/take wickets when it is counted. Take for instance Australian batsmen, they scored 8 centuries in the series, half of which came in the 1st Test where England fought hard, and successfully, to draw the game. On the other hand English scored only 2 centuries but both of these came in match winning efforts. Same with bowling. End result 2-1 England even though for statistical bent of mind that would seem reverse. Traditions are great many a times. In test cricket this is specially true. Here is wishing Indian, and other boards, learn a thing or two from Ashes and plan Test series more along 5 tests. Rahul Dravid, for example, has played in 130 plus Test and only 2 series with 5 test, probably none in this millennium if I am not mistaken. xxx Link to comment

But you are wishing BCCI to arrange 5 test series when then are busy cutting the 3 test series into 2 tests only? Just forget it! And test cricket is awfully marketed in India, played into stadiums which are 20-30 kms outside the main city, spectators having to buy 5 days tickets in one go if they wish to watch the game, tickets not available to spectators even if half the stadium is empty and then to have terrible facilities for the spectators at the stadium which they can manage for 3 hrs for the love of the game or at the most a day, to top it all! No wonder people have stopped coming to the stadium for tests. It is not profitable and hence of almost no interest to BCCI. Link to comment
King Tendulkar
Bring back Eden Gardens. I love that place. Hold a test there and the place will be rocking Link to comment

Who the **** came up with the idea of making spectators buy tickets for all 5 days. How did they come up with that to sell grounds out. Worst idea ever Sachin recently suggested providing free tickets to students on certain days. Students that do well in school, it provides an incentive for them to do well in school and keeps the interest in test cricket. Link to comment
Ram
Lurker is right. A 5 test series between two evenly matched sides always leads to some amount of drama towards the end, which is what all of us look for in sport. But, with the truncated touring calendar of these days and the general clamor for T20s, it will be a rare sight to see a 5 match series. Link to comment
