Aadhavzone Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Hi All, How do you feel about this young lad, brother of Kamran Akmal. Seems to be very promising aspect for Pakistan, with his consistency! though a long way to go for him!
Shane Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 I have never seen him bat, but yeah ever since he has hit the International Scene he has been very consistent, and he gets them at a fair clip too. I hope he doesnt have a fugly technique like his Big Bro. Looks like a prospect for Pakistan.
Shane Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Hi All, How do you feel about this young lad, brother of Kamran Akmal. Seems to be very promising aspect for allrounder, with his consistency! though a long way to go for him! All Rounder? Does he bowl? I don't quite think so. Aspect? What aspect? Prolly you mean prospect?
Aadhavzone Posted September 19, 2009 Author Posted September 19, 2009 All Rounder? Does he bowl? I don't quite think so. Aspect? What aspect? Prolly you mean prospect? sorry tongue slipped :P But i was very impressed, by the way he is handling pressure :hatsoff:, by coming at 5 down or 4 down... when paki's batting order crushes as usual :hysterical: most of the time ! he averages 64 in ODI's in 4 games (agree too early to discuss, but He has got temperamant!) His bro is a good player, but he has some weak links in batting (playing straight or forward) All the best to him!
newmanthepunter Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 looks kinda good enough.... too early to say consistent tho
Aadhavzone Posted September 19, 2009 Author Posted September 19, 2009 looks kinda good enough.... too early to say consistent tho ya i agree its too early, he performs well at crunchy wanted situations.
Dinx - the Jinx Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 I haven't seen much of him. Is he a dependable batsman? Can I pick him in my SS?
Aadhavzone Posted September 19, 2009 Author Posted September 19, 2009 I haven't seen much of him. Is he a dependable batsman? Can I pick him in my SS? why not! so far he has done well in subcontinent & scored 67 in last warm up match against SL in South Africa! :two_thumbs_up:
Aadhavzone Posted September 19, 2009 Author Posted September 19, 2009 okay.. thanks for the tip :) ok da :winky:
DomainK Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 My first impression: Faulty technique, but very hard working player. He is a dedicated guy, concentrates hard and makes up for his bad technique by hard work. Remains to see how he does in difficult batting conditions outside the subcontinent.

vvvslaxman Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Yea he seems to be consistent so far. But they all suck against left arm spinners which is why make one cringe about Ojha's omission.
ludhianvi Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 First saw Umar Akmal in the last u19 WC which India won under Kohli. He used to go really hard at the ball from the word go in that tournament and the commentators were really hyping him up for his domestic record. So now, he's made it to the national Pakistan team. I think he can play up the order and in the middle order depending on the situation.
Celeste Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 He got selected due to his impressive performance in Pak A tour to Aus against Bollinger,Tait & Krejza where he scored 3 centuries. I think he should replace Yousuf permanently in ODIs. He will also make sure that Misbah & Malik doesnt take their place for granted because only 1 of them can play in his presence.
Aadhavzone Posted September 19, 2009 Author Posted September 19, 2009 ya he seems to be a strong promising aspect for Pakistan! Anyway Wishes for him personally! and he doesn't click against India! :P

If he can score in foreign conditions, he is a bright prospect for Pakistan.
iHammad Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Yes. Umar Akmal is a great player and plays very balanced. He defends very solidly and knows went to go on the aggresive. He has made centuries against Australia A while playing for Pakistan A. He made a centruy on his debut I think against SL in SL. He is a very good prospect for Pakistan and Inshallah he will perform in the CT. Good luck Umar Akmal!:two_thumbs_up:

Well a month ago he was piling up runs against Australia-A in Australia, if that counts. Scoring 3 centuries and one 50 in 6 innings against good bowlers like Tait, Bollinger, McKay, Henrique, Krejza, in Australia is simply amazing. He has done exceptionally well in domestic circuit too & has started off his international career impressively with already a 100 & a 50 under his name. Got a good feeling that junior Akmal will pile up big runs in the tournament.
