Zap_Brannigan
Is karthik really the best temp we have ? WTF is wrong with Dhoni in sticking with karthik and Pathan, leaving out other players even after repeated failures from these 2. Link to comment

He is taking all those who performed in the IPL. None of the domestic batsmen performed well and so how can he risk some others and that too in the absence of a senior player like Veeru. Zap_Brannigan
I am talking about domestic players...M Vijay and Badri were chosen in WI tour but never got a game. Both have a decent record in domestic games. What happened to the guys like Tiwary and a whole lot of others who are mentioned during IPL ? I dont think many of these deserve a place in the ODI side nor will they make the squad when India is full strength but is Karthik really the best of the worst ? Our bench strength seems useless. Should we be looking to reorganize our domestic format to find good players for ODIs? Link to comment
saneindian
Did you see what Badri and Vijay did in the emerging players tournament in Australia playing for Ind A? Link to comment
Zap_Brannigan
Did you see what Badri and Vijay did in the emerging players tournament in Australia playing for Ind A? Thats not the point. The point is that there are better batsmen than Karthik who should be playing. So badri and Vijay flopped. Who did well ? Kholi ? So why didn't he play yesterday ? Kholi is not an opener but neither is Kartik. Why didn't Kholi play instead of Pathan as Nayar, Yuvi and Raina can play the 5th bowlers part. We really need to get some proper batsmen in the side. Not these bits and pieces players. Link to comment

Its descent only and as a captain he averages 31.16, 187 runs in 7 matches!, Highest score of match winning 81. Forgot his captain role and he brought us the trophy dont be so moron before commenting a player! Badri is in contention, as everyone knows, Tiwary & Vijay have to wait, as already many promising lads are there! our worry is bowling now! :(( Link to comment

Sooda
Karthik did have a good Ranji season last year-good amount of runs for a Wk-batter anyway, and lest we forget did ok opening for us in Test cricket for a while. He can bat. Im not sure if he's an ODI opener though. Im sure Kohli is a better out and out batsman, so may well be a better choice to open. Maybe theyre going for DKs greater experience...? Its a shame Vijay had a bit of a shocker for the emerging players, he does look like a good opening bat. Loks like hes got the shots and the technique and very composed when playing vs Aus Link to comment

Zap_Brannigan
I am afraid that we are entering into the bits and pieces era that we had with robin singh, kaif, saba karim, joshi, deep das gupta etc...players who cannot perform their primary role well but are in the side because they can do something else decently. He is picked and dumped again and this cycle has been going on for a couple of years. Is Rohit better than Karthik or not :hmmm: Link to comment
