Jersey #10 Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Greatest doesn't necessarily mean numbers all the time, it involves lot of personality, respect and ability to carry yourself around. SRT's composure over the years in his game, personal life, critics and dedication is what makes him great. Murali i is big, very big but very small in comparison to Tendulkar Murali carried 30 Million smiles, Tendulkar has 30 times that This site owner is very smart and makes sensible comments :yay: i totally agree:--D
patriot Posted September 22, 2009 Author Posted September 22, 2009 you do realize that Sachin holds almost 70 records as a batsman while Muralitharan holds less than 15 right? LOL..show me all the " real" records. ( Not ones likes most no of stadium appearances, youngest cricketer, most number of consecutive tests..etc that you saw on that masala website :finger:) ..and IL show you one more than that for Murali. You must be seriously deluded to argue on the matter of the most sucessful bowler in the history of the game.:winky:
patriot Posted September 22, 2009 Author Posted September 22, 2009 Murali averages 36 against OZ. Murali averages 30 against India. Not the hallmarks of the greatest cricketer ever. Especially given the fact that OZ and India have been the 2 leading test playing teams during his career. He has done well against SA among the top teams. He is not even the greatest bowler of his generation. I would put McGrath, Akram ahead of him and maybe Warne too. Don't exaggerate P_K. You do realise that Kumbles career average is about 30, do you ? And he is inarguably one of the greatest bowlers of all times. I am not arguing that Murali is the greatest cricketer of all times - I think Bradman for sure is - what I am merely saying is that Murali has achieved as much or more as a bowler than SRT has as a batsmen in terms of piling on milestones, records and winning matches for each ones respective countries. To average well over 6 wickets per test match at a lowest strike rate for a spinner for nearly 800 fricking wickets - is uncomparable and unsurmountable. Not for nothing was he rated by Wisden as the greatest ever bowler. He also holds the number 4 position in all time greatest ICC test ratings .

Its very obvious dude...good luck searching. :two_thumbs_up:
Jersey #10 Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 btw, Its kind of a trivia (not a record) .. sachin was the first ever to be given out by a third umpire in 92-93...kind of funny
Jersey #10 Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 its not like murali gets a 5 wickets haul every match he plays similarly sachin doesn't make a ton every match he plays...kiddo stuff for a discussion really lol

The closest competitor ( Warne ) has "only" 37.

Just explain me how do you measure Murali's achievements as a BOWLER with Tendulkar's as a BATSMAN ? I mean none of the experts on ICF, cricketing fraternity have been able to do so but you seem to be confident of finding the missing piece in such comparisons :nervous:
The Outsider Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Lol! What is Murali's performance against the two best batting line ups he bowled to - Zilch!

Jersey #10 Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Sachin has many more MOS and MOM than murali in both ODI and Tests..what does that say? my 8 year old brother beside me says that "sachin has positively influenced many more games than Murali" hence a more consistent match winner? ...hmm.. hmmm...is this debate this simple to conclude?

patriot Posted September 22, 2009 Author Posted September 22, 2009 Lol! What is Murali's performance against the two best batting line ups he bowled to - Zilch! Let's see Murali's " worsts": Against India ..Murali's record/average (30) is as good as Kumble's career record - ZIlch ? Nah. Considering the fact that another Wizard - Warne -averages a pathetic 47 against us. Against Australia ...Murali's career record (36) is average - but thats because of what has been happening to him in tours of Australia so far - chucking calls , worst kind of racial abuse from the crowd etc - His record against Aussies at home is awesome as usual.

Murali averages 70 in OZ. Murali averages 30 against India. Murali averages 40 in India. seems as if he is a tiger in SL and a pusseey cat outside of SL...(as some hindi idiom goes)

Where did Kumble and Warne enter the discussion? Let's compare Murali an Tendulkar against the top oppositions and in their backyard!!

The Outsider Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 BTW, an average of 70 for a bowler in a country is equivalent to an average of 15-20 for a batsman in a country. No wonder patriot considers Murali and Ponting all time greats

Ponting and Murali both top 900 performance points , whereas their other beloved contemporary has never touched 900, ever.
