Test Batting Strike Rate and Average Runs/Innings over the years

1) This shows Test BatSR over the years, with Average runs/Innings shown by the color of the line graph. Interactive graph and data: http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AkO-lWknR2CadEZrSHU4M2MyWE1ETVdVWTR3dkdNalE&hl=en BatSR vs Years AverageRuns/Innings vs Years Ignoring the 1800's, it seems that the Batting Strike rate really took a nose dive in the Post-Bradman era, around 1940's - 1970's. With the introduction of ODI cricket, the languishing Test batting strike rates were restored up as well. Then from 2000 onwards, when we've had a sudden surge in the Test Strike Rates with the introduction of T20s. The introduction of ODIs and T20s, despite what the purists may say, has had an effect in making the batting a bit more exciting, and a bit like what it used to be in the early 1900's. Note that the average runs per innings is still pretty much along the mean despite claims that batting is much easier in this decade and scores are much higher. 2) In case you are interested in how individual teams have fared, you can look at how the Batting Strike Rates have changed over the years for each team. Wow ... how did you get the SR's for the old foggy era man ?

Hey BB :hello: .. This is just innings data.. they normally stored the number of overs and number of balls/over, even though they didn't store SR's of each individual player.
