I think the league would have been more competitive if more foreign players and Aussie internationals played in it. But they have just six sides so they couldn't recruit more foreigners at the expense of domestic 'talent' which is understandable. What I like most is the format of the league, I wish IPL was structured similarly.

Rana stars as Tigers finally roar Rana stars as Tigers finally roar A spectacular allround show by Naved-ul-Hasan Rana helped the Tasmanian Tigers get the better of the Western Warriors by 17 runs. The Pakistan swing bowler chipped in with a valuable 47 during the Tigers’ innings and prized out three key wickets when the Warriors looked like making a game out of it. Earlier, Tasmania had elected to bat after skipper George Bailey called correctly at Hobart on Friday. The Warriors had their feet up front, with Drew Porter and Aaron Heal picking up two wickets each. The Tigers were on the mat with five wickets down for 74 runs in only the eleventh over. Adam Voges looked content on the field as his side kept a tight leash on the opposition but Travis Birt and Rana had other plans. The two came in together with the Tigers reeling at 74 for five and added 74 runs in a little over seven overs to lend some respectability to the score. Only a double blow by Nathan Coulter-Nile halted the duo’s charge. The medium pacer had Birt caught by Marsh in the 18th over while Rana perished to him the very next delivery. With 168 to chase down on a good batting track, the odds were heavily stacked in favour of the Warriors. Opener Luke Ronchi got into the act straight away, cracking an aggressive 27 off 17 balls before Brendon Drew struck to pick up the first of his three wickets. Luke Pomersbach was the next to go as Drew tightened the noose around the Warriors and when 10 runs later, Brett Geeves removed Shaun Marsh, the writing was pretty much on the wall for the Warriors. Voges tried to wage a brave battle with 18-year-old Mitchell Marsh, adding 41 runs for the fourth wicket. Once the Warriors captain was dismissed in the 12th over and Marsh in the 15th, the Tigers stormed in with Rana leading the pack to bag three wickets.The Warriors, who are yet to open their account in the points tally get their next chance when they take on defending champions New South Wales Blues on Tuesday. West Indies power hitter Chris Gayle, who was sorely missed in Friday’s loss to the Tigers should be back in business for the Western Australians.
